These are the theories that the writers/creators of LOST have disproven for us... And there are some sources to prove their disproof (new word).
* The survivors are dead and/or in Purgatory. Source- http://tv.zap2it.com/tveditorial/tve...7C1%7C,00.html * The survivors are in a time warp. * Spaceships or aliens influence the events on the island. Source for the two above- http://www.scifi.com/scifiwire2005/index.php?id=30246 * Everything seen is a fictional reality taking place in one or more of the survivors' minds. Source- http://losttv-forum.com/bonus/interview.htm * The "security system" is a dinosaur. Source- http://www.lost-tv.com/exclusives/damon081804.html * the article here http://www.ew.com/ew/report/0,6115,1...7C0_0_,00.html states: The pirates are, in fact, ''the others'' on the island, about whom Rousseau (Mira Furlan) warned the castaways. Which means that the kidnapped boy Walt (Malcolm David Kelly) shouldn't be too far away. I know I've read threads out there where people think Walt was taken far away or to another island, or that the people who took Walt were not the others. The plane did not crash by accident. It crashed for a very specific reason. The castaways are not "ghosts stuck in a tropical limbo" Some have observed that the Orientation video and the missing section have differences in Dr. Candle's hair and his tie. And I think some have theorized that this is of some significance. This was posted by Javi, writer/producer on the Fuselage. http://www.thefuselage.com/Threaded/...ad.php?t=28950 __________________ I have seen some of those ^ components in some of your theories, so I thought it would be easier to have a one stop reference to help you out. Oh and praise Wikipedia for helping me with some of the links.

Gosh, thank the Lord none of these are actual facts when it comes to this masterfully created show. It's a credit to the brilliant minds who are developing this show that they wouldn't choose to use cheap cop-outs to explain this story away.
Thanks for the post too Toad |

Fully remembering the writer's promise, I still found Ecko's comment to Bernard interesting. It could just be an offhand comment to further the Mr. Ecko's character dynamic. Or, maybe not.
I think what I find most troubling is that Mr. Ecko's obsession with building the church solidified after his conversation with Henry. During that conversation it seemed as if Ecko had some kind of enlightening experience and was now ready to betray the losties. I can only think of two contexts for this conversation. Either Mr. E has made the assumption that the others are the more powerful group and are therefore the ones to side with for the purpose of self preservation. Or, that they are those to support for reasons which are morale in nature. A man who has just decided to sell out his peers for the purpose of survival does not find himself pios enough to construct a house of worship. That only leaves one alternative. On one other note relating to the writer's promise, I am sure it has already been mentioned, but Cerberus was the guard dog of the underworld. His job was to keep the dead from crossing making it to the world of the living and the living from making it to the world of the dead.
