Kate Austen

Kate Austen is one of the middle section survivors of Oceanic Flight 815. Kate is a fugitive, and was being pursued by Marshal Mars prior to the flight, for blowing up her father. Kate had been captured in Australia and was being escorted back to the United States before the crash. Kate has always seemed to run away from her past. Even on the Island, Kate exhibits a kind of evasive behavior to escape from her problems. Kate, when on the run, always had good intentions and never did any outright harm or killings to anybody, she believed she was doing things for the greater benefit of others. This view is prominently connected with her actions of her father's murder - she believed she was relieving her mother from his abusive presence. Kate is strong-willed, useful and clever, but dislikes being alone and is usually level-headed.

She has escaped from the captivity of the Others with Sawyer, and has formed an ambiguous romantic relationship with him, despite still being unsure about her feelings for Jack.

I don't think the Atlantis idea is any crazier than some of the other
theories that have been posted. Some of them are waaaaaaayyyyyyyy
out there.

It's not a bad theory, maybe the experiments are designd to see who is a candidate for the higher dimensions. Atalntis could be emerging again, slowly, that's why the Black Rock is in the middle of the island.

or perhaps your right, we need a new episode, I could sure use one.

I don't necesarily think that the island IS atlantis.. but.. I don't think atlantis is really a literal place... more of an idea... of a remnant of an acient and advance form of human.. and the island is related to that somehow. the philosophy of Atlantis seems to coincided with what's going on with the people on this lsland.. to some degree anyways..

Well, I like the idea, and the creators are obviously students of history and literature... maybe they are trying to recreate Atlantis (they being Dharma) or like I have said before, this may be so far in the future, that these are the ones who will be repopulating the earth. We saw Adam and Eve, long dead, and a ship that's under 200 years old in the middle of an island that takes millenia to be created. Perhaps the losties have been cryogenically frozen, a definite topic on the Hanso Foundation website, they are now ready to be unfrozen and are... I don't know, being tested to see who is ready for the new world that is way different than the one they remember.

****, what a cool show!
