Power failure / low sperm count?

We just had a power failure here at the office in Toronto...and so naturally I got to thinkin about infertility. Pardon?

Yes the power went out for 10 minutes but the backup battery packs kicked in as they should so we didnt miss a beat. So it struck me that batteries are good....if they stay charged!

Rousseau apparently has batteries to spare, except she has no source to keep them charged! The magnetic properties of the island must keep them charged somehow.

Now, magnetic radiation is good for batteries but bad on your reprodution 'skills'...so perhaps the Islanders are infertile, which might explain their preoccupation with children.

Its good to see that other peoples minds wander like mine. Very good theory! That would be an interesting turn out. No, not really but it is still a good idea.

I think the reason for the children stealing is a bit more in-depth than sex deprived scientists. GOOD IDEA THOUGH!

If, IF, there are competing factions of Other 'tribes', and they cant reproduce, there would be a distinct premium on children, to continue their lines...n'est-ce pas? Maybe the Meds that Desmond takes are to combat the radiation, also.

Never underestimate what someone will do to have a child. We have been trying for ten years without sucsess. We just want one. If your stuck on an island with little or no hope of getting off,( no pun intended) Or you have a job to do that may last generations. The young are crittical. Then add in fertility problems and, It stand to reason that you would nab any kids you could find. I do wonder about Aaron. Is he too young yet?

I don't think the theory means they want to have sex with small
children. i think it means because of magnetism they are unable to
reproduce ( like microwaves supossedly affecting sperm count) and since they can't have their own, they must take children to keep the colony going.

P.S. This is all I'll think about the next time the power goes out.
