desmonds girlfriend/jacks wife

i was on the losties website and saw a thread about desmonds wife possibly being the same woman driving the boat. but the picture of the woman on the boat looked nothing like the girl with desmond in his picture(the picture found i the hatch) the girl in the picture with desmond looks more like jacks wife. i do not know how to add pictures. sorry. but when people find them i think they will agree.

No I do not think that is the same person. I brightened this screenshot to see her face a bit better. It does not look like either of them.

The timing would be all wrong for Susan and Desmond. She was engaged
to other man when she was in her accident. Desmond was already in training
the day of Susan's accident. After her fiance left her she started seeing Jack and they were married two years later. They were married several years
before her affair. Surely Desmond's training didn't last 5 years. He would
have been long gone by the time Susan had her affair. Do you think he was
the boyfriend before the fiance before Jack? If so did he continue to carry the torch for her through her break up with the fiance and her engagement
to Jack so much so that he still carried her picture.
If he was the man she had the affair with - why would she leave her
husband for a man who's planning a trip around the world. And if he
were the man it makes sense he would know what happened and not
have to ask Jack about her - ( He asked Jack - "What happened to that
girl in the accident?") He would know who she was.
I think the timing is just too far off.

I have to agree...I don't think that Jack's wife is Desmond's girlfriend nor the girl on the boat.

I believe that the girl on the boat is Karen Degrut. If you look closesly at her you can see that she is old.

That's one of the reasons why I believe they didn't show Alex when Blubeard / Zeke called for her to bring Kate at the campfire.

They want us to keep on guessing -- I know this because I originally thought the girl on the boat was Alex...then I looked closer and saw that she was old. Older then a sixteen year old.

Then I looked more closely at Karen degrut from the 8mm film and figured that the girl on the boat is the older Karen.

And if my theory is correct, that the degruts are still on the island and Bluebeard / zeke is gerald degrut...then that would make the older looking blonde woman on the boat karen.
