My End Theory

I Don't think anyone has posted anything like this yet , but my apologies in advance if I am repeating anything here . This is my Theory as to how Lost will end . The reason everyone that was on the plane must return to the Island is B/C someone( Locke , Desmond ?) has figured out the time travel thing and once they get everyone back in one place they will trigger it to become moments before the crash happened and somehow prevent the crash . The plane will safely land at its final destination with ALL the passengers alive and well . Now I know A LOT of thought and technical stuff has gone into all these discussions , but think about the simple references to Alice in Wonderland and The Wizard of OZ . Everything ends at the beginning so to speak .... I've thought a lot about all this and I am convinced it will END THIS WAY !!! Maybe not Happily Ever After , but if they remember it all , they will all be BETTER PEOPLE with a good start in the right direction wouldn't you say ?

You may be right, but I wonder if a lot of fans would feel this was a cop-out.

Yeah, just from what the creators have said themselves, this ending will not happen. They've said in interviews it won't be something like that, a cop-out. If they use time-travel to prevent everything in the show from happening, then they're just being lazy and not tying up loose ends. If that were to happen I would probably send one or both of those dudes a firebomb in the mail.

I have to disagree. The writers have invested way to much into the plot and direction(s) of the show. Locke wants to stay on the island and not a cripple, and Desmond (at least until Penny is Killed) is happy and content. If it ended with a cop out like that (or the J.R. or Seinfield type of ending for that matter) the show would be meaningless and all the stories of redemption would have been for nothing. My opinion is that the redemption theme of the show will be the most important factor in the final ending someway. But, I enjoyed the guess!

But how would this work around Clare for example. She is supposed to raise Aaron herself and if the plane lands as expected, he will be adopted! (granted I appreciate she isn't raising him now Kate is but we don't know if/when that's going to change)!

This theory makes sense because of the Wizard references, but it would be disappointing. The Wizard has been done, it was exciting and surprising then... not anymore.

LOST needs a new and original ending that isn't found in another well known literary context. This may be difficult but I hope this is their plan. They have referenced and cross-referenced so many literary works it would be truly great if they created something of their own in the and for the end.

If this ends of being the case I wonder how we will find out about who Adam and Eve are, maybe in a flashback??

While I doubt the writers will go for a clean-the-slate ending, it wouldn't surprise me if we didn't get some "looping" in the next two seasons. For instance, I fully expect one of the characters (probaby Locke) to attempt to turn the clock back so that certain aspects of the ordeal did not happen.

There's been a lot of this already, with scenes from Seasons 1 and 2 being replayed in the latter parts of 3 and 4 from the POV of different characters who were originally not introduced.

I think this will be one of the things the writers lean on going forward, perhaps even to the extent where they replace the flashbacks and flash forward effects we've seen in the past.
