Awesome book, even more awesome that someone else read it besides me. That theory actually did cross my mind when I saw it more clearly go up to Mr. Eko.

Maybe it's a combination of being "controlled" by the others and having it's own agenda as well... allowing the others to use its power within limits.

This will be interesting when the series ends; to see how right on the money or completely ludicrous our theories are.

Though I think NanoBots are an interesting technology that I would like to see on the show and in the real world.

okay, cool...so, let's take a good look at the pilot...

Looks like the guy from Felicity and Alias. And is also JJ's best friend.

So, putting these aside.

Did anyone catch the Entertainment weekly that came out before the 2nd season started? He was listed as one of the dead. However, most characters like Rose and so forth weren't listed at all (characters that we knew a little longer) -- so I tossed it off, thinking nothing of it...

UNTIL...

Did anyone catch the LOST magazine where there was a huge article about THE PILOT? Yes, the actor as JJ's friend...but also about the pilot!

I think that there's more to the story (which we all know is true with most things in LOST). Why so much time on a character that's gone right away. (I know Jack was supposed to play this, but coming from a writer's POV especially in mythology shows -- you know what I am talking about -- when you change something...you tend to write a backstory to why.)

Don't worry I am getting to my point.

Then Cindy is missing...the pilot and cindy...(if you saw my thread about Cindy the stewardess)

Ok...so...I realize that the man (Gerald Degrut) who is in the 8mm video would be like 60 years old right now (BLUEBEARD / ZEKE / MR. FRIENDLY), and the pilot didn't look that age at all.

These are good points.

But look closer, my friends, if you're familiar with the actor who is JJ's friend then you know you too can see the resemblance!

So, that brings me to my theory -- cloning.

THIS IS JUST MY THEORY:

What does an all powerful rich man like Alvar Hanso have to fear? DEATH.

So, he puts his money where he nees it -- the Degruts. they are into cloning and life extension.

ok...Locke is cloned, later to be reunited by a kidney needed. Alvar curious about his clone, latches onto the story of father/son and with no regard lets him go. (a rich man, sometimes, finds it hard to walk away from an heir to his throne -- it's been seen throughout history, unless he is not really an heir but an experiment of science and then they want nothing to do with it.)

So, he stops funding the degruts and they get stuck on the island. (the girl in the boat is Karen Degrut)

However Gerald Degrut's clone is doing well as a pilot. And then mysteriously the plane is there.

So, yeah...try not to knock it down. Let it sit for awhile and think of the possibilities. Then if you still don't agree...come up with other theories...

AND DON'T FORGET TO LOOK CLOSE!

Ok then, I see the resemblance. Although they have very different eyebrows from each other.

The only thing I can come up with is that cloning thing. I know there are more answers as to why they look alike.

Slow down the boat scene at the end of season one and take a good look at the aged Karen Degrut...want to see her younger...look at the 8mm footage.

But why and what and is degrut bluebeard / zeke / mr/ friendly?

The Oceanic pilot and G DeGroot of the orientation film are played by the same actor...I havent decided what that means...but I'm leaning to the possibility it's a production thing rather than a plot thing. (The actor as you've pointed out is a good and old buddy of the execs.)

However...suspiciously they do/will NOT give any actor's acknowledgement to whomever is the player of DeGroot in the orient. film, and yet they acknowledge Brittany Perrineau as the actress in 2 distinct roles...

If you notice the pilot looks like Gerald Degrut (you know in the 8mm film, don't believe me, slow it down -- there's a reason JJ uses his best friend at the most essential parts of the LOST story)

Uh, he didn't die...and then the nano bots take him (like they pulled LOCKE) and killed him -- now he can't share anymore information -- the nano botts haven't killed anyone else...

Of course we think that this is coinsidence...so that we don't get anymore information, but in LOST there is no such thing as coincidence! We should understand that by now!

Also, LOCKE has seen the eye of the island and it was beautiful! He wanted to be taken by the machines because he had faith in them.

What if they are being controlled by a "wizard of OZ" of some sort.

I think it's being controlled ... it scans people, calculating them, of their thoughts like a copier machine -- when it is scanning, calculating SHAFT you can hear that scanning like noise...then listen to Locke's calculator in Season 1, episode 4, right before we go to commercial when Locke is introduced in his flashback at his office...

I like yur theories...I like that you have imagination -- "There is no try, there is only do or do not..."

Luv that book. Its great. I think u could have something there. Glad to know someone else likes to read books having to do with the end of the world.

How about books where the world already ended? Or there is no such thing as earth, us Earthlings are so boring.
