Don't forget that Michael can't be killed. Guns somehow jam when they are pointed at him. Does this explain the visit from Christian, and what was said just before the explosion?

Leads alot more to my continuing theory that the island is purgatory. Christian tells Micheal that he can go now. He has righted the wrongs, the killings of Ana Lucia and Libby, and now can ascend. Thought this for quite a while.

Agree. Michael served his purpose in sacrificing himself in order to save the rest of the Losties, etc. Christian was there to tell Michael that his work was done, and the "suffering" was over. (Similar to Walt appearing to Locke to tell him that he still had work to be done - the Island decides when your work has been completed.) Michael needed to avenge his past errors and save a life, since he took a life (or two) for his own purpose. And I think it would be difficult to have Michael survive after an explosion like that.

Maybe this should be a whole other thread or already discussed, but does anybody believe that Jin could possibly still be alive, that he could have dove off the freighter? Just a thought.

I have no doubt at all that Jin is still alive. There's no way they went through all the buildup about him being dead in the future, and all Sun's heartbreak when the freighter exploded, to make it all for nothing. They couldn't go back to verify it, so they presume he's dead. Nothing is ever quite what we expect on this show, and Jin is too great of a character to be killed off, imho.

I agree, Jin jumped.He will be back (well it would be great for the story line anyway)

purgatory theory was quite a favorite for sometime but it was officially discredited, I'm afraid
