Why Boone, Libby & Charlie?

Anyone have a theory as to why the Oceanic 6 came up with the story and told the press that Boone, Libby and Charlie survived the crash only to die later on the island? It's odd that they picked those three - there must be a reason.
You'd think they'd say Jin survived for at least awhile to impregnate Sun... how will they explain Sun's pregnancy if they are saying Jin died in the crash? Thoughts?

Jack tells the press that at the press conference after they are rescued. I don't think it was included in the original airing - at least I didn't catch it then. But last night before the season final abc showed an "enhanced version" of the May 15 episode "There's no place like home, part one" and Jack indeed tells the press that. He has a whole story about Boone dying of crash injuries, Charlie drowning... and I can't remember what he says about Libby. Anyone else catch that?

Boone and charlie both sort of did heroic things charlie deffo before they died, and libby meant a lot to hurley so im guessing thats why they chose him but the fact that Sun is pregnant is very true

But other people did heroic things too: Mr. Eko and some would even say Annalucia.... And Shannon meant alot to Sayid....
So many people died, why did they pick those three to say survived the crash?
They could have even said Clarie survived and tell the truth that Aaron was her baby. Why do they find it necessary for Kate to raise him? He could have gone to Clarie's mother who was at Jack Shepherds funeral.

I thought they chose those three because since they were dead they wouldnt be later found.

Oh yah, they are confirmed deffo dead..

and Ekko wasn't on the plane

Yes, Eko was on the plane. He was in the tail section with Ana Lucia and Libby.
There are so many others that are dead too and wouldn't be found later: Shannon, Artz, the airplane captain, the U.S. marshall who had Kate in custody, Nikki, and Paulo - just to name a few.

There HAS TO BE A REASON they picked Boone, Libby and Charlie.

I have to agree. I can't think of a reason they would've picked anyone at all. Why bother lying about 3 other people surviving the crash and then dying on the island. It seems like a needless complication. Since they did pick 3 people, why them?

I think they chose Charlie because they are not sure if his body would wash up later since they do not know what really happen. Why Boone and Libby? IDK.
