Is the reason Whitmore would be looking for the island is because like Ben he was the last one to have to move the the island?? He once had the same position Ben (and now Locke has) to lead the others? I say this because Ben seems to be looking for the island now just like him... "the one who move's the island can never come back"

what was Whidmore doing on the island? I know his grandfather had landed on the island with the Black Rock (slave ship... which i believe are 'The Others'), but how would Whidmore get there? From the manifest he bought at the auction?

Lawl I so wouldn't put it past Ben, that's the kind of sneaky evil but awesome thing he'd do right.

I don't think Widmore moved the island before. If that was so, how would they get to the wheel without harming the time machine? It seemed nothing was wrong with it when Ben and Locke was there.

I don't think Ben and Whidemore overlap because the history we seem with Whidemore... Penny specificlly. Doesn't mean that Charles wasn't the speaker for the island, which makes alot of sense now, but I don't think he was the one before Ben. Maybe he was the LAST one before ben and that's why Richard needed Ben. To be there leader, because we never saw Ben take the reigns of leadership from another speaker.
