Hugo "Hurley" Reyes

Hugo "Hurley" Reyes is one of the middle section survivors of Oceanic Flight 815. Hurley's father disappeared when he was at a young age for almost 17 years. Afterwards, Hurley suffered an eating-disorder and after a traumatic accident he was sent to a mental asylum when he started seeing an imaginary person. Ever since, he has changed and has been extremely concious of his sanity and how people view him. When Hurley won the lottery, he was not overjoyed, instead he was fearful that his life was going to change. Hurley is typically happy-go-lucky and keeps the spirits of his fellow survivors up. He has an eating disorder but has managed to overcome that with the help of Libby, and has even stuck to it after her death. He is also the voice of reason in the group, and uses his common sense to solve difficult situations. Ever since winning the lottery with the mysterious numbers, he has searched for an answer for the curse of bad luck that supposedly plagues him.

Default Who is in the Coffin

As we saw on the Season Finale of Season 3, Jack visits someone's coffin shortly after the Oceanic 6 arrive back and such.

Now, seeing as Jin was buried once Sun returned to the normal world, we cannot assume that he is really dead (although it is strongly hinted at). One theory is that Sun was crying to Jin, not because he was dead, but because he wasn't there with her when the baby was born.

What if there is no one in the coffin? What if it's a funeral for someone that died on the plane with no real family or connections, maybe one of the "8" that made it out of the plane? Kate basically said to Jack that it was a preposterous idea to go to that viewing, because they both know that the person isn't actually dead.

I'm not sure... but I believe that the Flash Forward is years in the future after the '6' get off the island. Why would they be having a funeral for someone at that point. I like the idea, but I still think it's someone they would find deplorable, like Michael, who seems like he could really use a friend right now... or another friend, like Lapedius.

I don't think its Michael... I highly doubt he'll leave the freighter. Who knows who it's going to be? There is a spoiler floating around but I don't believe it... sounds too dumb to me...

We don't know exactly when the Oceanic 6 are at during the Jack & Kate confrontation, but I can't imagine it's very far in the future. I know that there was a 2007 date on the NY Times that Jack was reading, but that could've very well been an error for all we know. And we know that they'll get rescued next Thursday, which is sometime at the end of 2004.

I don't understand why it would be Michael's funeral because he lives in New York not L.A. I was thinking more along the lines of it being Sawyer's fake funeral since it's in a desolate, bad side of town. I don't know, I think there's more to the story rather than it being someone who just died and no one liked them or knew them.

The LA Times article was just a prop... none of the stuff in the article meant anything...

Remeber, Michael is supposed to be dead, with Walt, at the bottom of the ocean, so he won't be using his real name... hence, no one comes to his funeral. Jack and Kate know his fake name I'm guessing, since they'll see him on the freighter.

I doubt the article was fake, the producers showed it too many times for it to mean nothing.

The producers also said there was no time travel in the show. then recanted. No offense, but I've learned NOt to listen to the podcasts, I believe they are there to throw off the hard core fans like us.
