Dr. Jack Shephard

Dr. Jack Shephard is often seen as the main character of the series. He is a spinal surgeon and the de facto leader of the survivors of Oceanic Flight 815. Jack has control issues and trouble dealing with situations that he cannot fix. However, this attitude of solving problems through reason has given him the ability to function well in crisis. Sometimes, if he feels guilt or pain over a situation he can't fix himself, he will do anything he can to fix it, even borderlining on obsessive. Jack is, most of the time, in control of his life, emotions and situation he is in and is able to keep a cool head in tense situations. Jack is also the half brother of Claire Littleton, although neither of them is aware of this. Jack has formed very strong bonds with Kate and Juliet while he has been on the Island.

Ben is SO Widmore's father!!! You're right, my theory was just a smokescreen hiding the real theory!
I really think that could be true. Well, I hope it is lol.

The food drop in season 2 has also been bugging me. It would seem to dsiprove Widmore-Dharma connection, because why would Widome be sending supplies to Island if it was no longer under his control. Also, the Dharma initiative does not seem to exist any more.

Somebody mentined this could be explained by multiple timelines, which gave me a similar idea. What if there aren't multiple timelines, but a single timeline, however the supply drops are from either the past or the future of the same timeline?

It has been shown that the Island moves in time. So supplies send in one time period - eg Dharma in the seventies, could theoreticaly arrive at the Island in different time then the time they originated.

So Widmore could have been connected to Dharma in the past, or will be in the future.

omg! you're totally right! i completely disagree with the multiple timeline idea, but i do agree that the island itself can and HAS been moved in time and/or space. i keep coming back to the failsafe key scenario, especially after the season finale. the "moving" of the island was so similar to what happened when the key was turned!
it took longer for that thing to arrive from the freighter to the island than it should have. and desmond traveled BACK in time in the helicopter on his way to the freighter. perhaps the island IS lost in time to widemore.

But people must be forgetting as Ben said, "Whoever moves the island can't return". So assuming he actually was telling the truth about that, it would've been impossible for Ben to move the island to hide it from Widmore and then return to the island only to move it yet again? Doesn't really make sense to me. *Shrugs*

I don't wanna be contradictory at all, but I don't really believe anything Ben has ever said. I mean, what evidence have we been given that he isn't just lying about everything he ever says?
I totally think Ben lies about a LOT of stuff. That's the only reason I'm inclined to believe he can return if he wants to.

I agree. Ben is a total fibber. I think Ben knows very well that Locke is "not the one", but supported the idea of Locke as the leader in everyones mind because he perceived that Locke is open to manipulation. Basic rule of politics - if you have to give up power, do your outmost to ensure your successor is less competent than you are. That way, they'll beg you to come back. I think Ben plans on returning. It's not like he has anything else to live for, other than the Island.

The ONLY thing Ben has ever said that I DO believe is "I ALWAYS have a plan." I think that is the truth. And so I agree with you that I, too, am inclined to believe that Ben can return to the island if he wants to.

You know, I agree about Ben's plan for Locke's incomptency. If he were to be competent to run the island, Ben should have shown him how to operate the Cereberus vents, how the food drops work, how the frozen wheel works, and how to figure out the bearings for getting on and off the island. Ben did none of those things. Now that the island's moved, I'll bet the food drops will stop...they'll just land in an empty place in the ocean where the island used to be. Cereberus will be running rampant uncontrolled. The Losties and the Others may go to war, and be competing for food. Jacob might not be appearing to Locke; all the info given at the cabin may be totally bogus.

Any and all of these things could be happening on the island while the O6 are away...can't wait to find out.

I think Ben is still the leader of the Others, not John Locke. I also think Ben can go back to the island.
