Boone Carlyle
Boone Carlyle was a middle section survivor of Oceanic Flight 815 and was Shannon's stepbrother. He attempted to assume a semi-leadership role with the survivors but failed due to being rash and young, though he became Locke's apprentice when the two formed a close bond. Boone survived on the Island for 41 days before he died of injuries sustained in a fall whilst he tried to contact 'rescuers' from the drug smugglers' plane. According to Locke, Boone was a sacrifice the Island demanded.

Hey, here’s a scene from the finale I found tucked in my issue of Popular Mechanics.
...
(Standing in front of a big metal ring with Egyptian hieroglyphics all around it)
Ben: I wasn’t being entirely truthful, John, when I said Charles Widmore needs our Large Hadron Collider to produce mini black holes to open a one-way portal into another universe…
Doc Arzt: But isn’t that a little dangerous?
Ben: …He’s also looking for this information I have on the Higgs boson and dark energy.
(Shows folder with Dharma logo)
Faraday: The way the smoke monster scattered light…I knew it had to be because of the Higgs boson!
(Shows a diagram in his notebook)
Sawyer: So, ol’ chimney boy is just dark energy, after all. I knew it!
Locke: But…when I looked into the eye of the island…I could have sworn I was seeing thousands of nanobots working in tandem.
Juliette: Ben’s right. And I secretly love him.
Vincent: But you’d need a force of energy as strong as Jupiter to keep the portal open.
Locke: Or…an electromagnet…in the center of…a desert island!
Ben: This island, John. I see you’re keeping up with the multiple timelines forum. I was beginning to think you couldn’t even read.
Locke: Don’t ever tell me what I can’t do!
(Throws dishes)
Jack: Maybe I can get everyone off the island with this!
Claire: Hold on a minute…nobody’s turned this thing on in 20 years…and even if we can get two particle streams traveling at the same speed, same energy, with exact opposite vectors to collide exactly head-on and focus all the resultant energy to a single point, I doubt we could get more than 5 or 6 people through the portal before the fabric of space time ripped.
Hurley: Dude, what?
Charlie’s Ghost: But the point is…we can create a transversible wormhole, right?
Desmond: We’ll be needin’ almost 5 billion mini black holes, brutha. It can’t be done.
Faraday: 4815162342 to be exact.
Hurley: Is this a joke!?!

I hope it turns out to be true, that will be very vindicating for a sci-fi freak like me, since I have believed this was going on since the first season.

Frank Drebin remembers a lost love.
Frank: It's the same old story. Boy finds girl, boy loses girl, girl finds boy, boy forgets girl, boy remembers girl, girls dies in a tragic blimp accident over the Orange Bowl on New Year's Day.
Jane: Goodyear?
Frank: No, the worst.

Aah geez, so it's popular mechanics after all, I was hoping Jack was "The One", and that he could see through the fabric of reality, fly waring a black overcoat and dark glasses and throw rings into damned volcanoes.
Just kidding, actually I love watching the show and read my Isaac Asimov's Foundation collection at the same time as I wonder about String and Large Hadron Collider theories...
by the way, this Large Hadron Collider looks really familiar to something, I wonder what, mmmh....
