Charlie Hieronymus Pace
Charlie Hieronymus Pace was a survivor from the middle section of Oceanic 815. Before the crash, Charlie was the bassist and main songwriter for the rock band Driveshaft. When Flight 815 crashed, Charlie was snorting heroin in one of the plane's bathrooms. Charlie's drug addiction and crippling self-doubt were the biggest obstacles in his life. Like many of the Losties, the crash provided Charlie with a fresh start. On the Island, Charlie formed a relationship with Claire Littleton and her son Aaron.
After avoiding deaths foreseen by Desmond several times, Charlie finally died willingly to save the other survivors. He drowned on day 93, and his death is yet unknown to anyone except Desmond.

Island Location
The theory discussed here is not my own work but gathered from much of the discussion on this forum.
1) Travel from the Island to other places is through wormholes.
From Wikipedia:
A wormhole is a hypothetical topological feature of spacetime that is basically a 'shortcut' through space and time. A wormhole has at least two mouths which are connected to a single throat or tube. If the wormhole is traversable, matter can 'travel' from one mouth to the other by passing through the throat. While there is no observational evidence for wormholes, spacetimes containing wormholes are known to be valid solutions in general relativity. A wormhole could allow time travel. This could be accomplished by accelerating one end of the wormhole to a high velocity relative to the other, and then sometime later bringing it back; relativistic time dilation would result in the accelerated wormhole mouth aging less than the stationary one as seen by an external observer, similar to what is seen in the twin paradox. However, time connects differently through the wormhole than outside it, so that synchronized clocks at each mouth will remain synchronized to someone traveling through the wormhole itself, no matter how the mouths move around. This means that anything which entered the accelerated wormhole mouth would exit the stationary one at a point in time prior to its entry. For example, if clocks at both mouths both showed the date as 2000 before one mouth was accelerated, and after being taken on a trip at relativistic velocities the accelerated mouth was brought back to the same region as the stationary mouth with the accelerated mouth's clock reading 2005 while the stationary mouth's clock read 2010, then a traveler who entered the accelerated mouth at this moment would exit the stationary mouth when its clock also read 2005, in the same region but now five years in the past. Such a configuration of wormholes would allow for a particle's world line to form a closed loop in spacetime, known as a closed timelike curve.
2) The earth has several places where wormholes can occur they are called Vile Vortices. map attached
From Wikipedia:
The Vile Vortices are twelve roughly evenly distributed geographic areas that are alleged to have the same mysterious qualities popularly associated with the Bermuda Triangle. The best-known vortices are the the Bermuda Triangle itself, the Devil's Sea near Japan and the South Atlantic Anomaly. The existence of the Vile Vortices was first advanced by naturalist and author Ivan T. Sanderson. Sanderson thought conflicting air and sea currents in the regions covered by the Vortices contributed to the anomalous phenomena he observed there. These phenomena included strange sky and sea conditions, mechanical and instrument malfunctions, and mysterious disappearances.
3) The wormhole on the island is stabilized via the islands natural Casimir Effect.
Halliwax said in the Orchid Orientation video that the island demonstrates a natural Casimir Effect.
From Wikipedia:
Exotic matter with negative energy density is required to stabilize a wormhole. The quantum mechanics of the Casimir effect can be used to produce a locally mass-negative region of space-time, and suggested that negative effect could be used to stabilize a wormhole to allow faster than light travel. Certain classes of higher dimensional models suggest that the Casimir effect is a candidate for the cosmological constant. It is demonstrated that a sufficiently advanced civilization could, in principle, manipulate the radius of the extra dimension to locally adjust the value of the cosmological constant. This adjustment could be tuned to generate an expansion/contraction of spacetime around a spacecraft creating an exotic form of field-propulsion. Due to the fact that spacetime expansion itself is not restricted by relativity, a faster-than-light 'warp drive' could be created.
4) The island is located antipodal (the region on the Earth's surface which is diametrically opposite to it) to the spot where Ben landed in Tunisia.
From Queenbeesteph
"...if you were to drill through the earth from around Fiji (the last location we heard about 815), you would come up roughly around Tunisia. It is possible that some of the diagrams in Daniel's notebook detailed this. So either there are conduits that transport you to different places according to Daniel's diagram (an icosehedron if looked at 3D) or there are wormholes. These wormholes are explained by what are called Vile Vortices (places like the Burmuda Triangle). And if you look at the map you can see there is a Vile Vortex located around Fiji and there is one located around Tunisia."
We know in episode 4-9 Ben landed on October 24th, 2005 somewhere near Tozeur, Tunisia. Tozeur is located at approximately N33° 55' E8° 08'. The antipode of this location is S33° 55' W171° 52' I have plotted that location on the attached map.
Other interesting information that supports or makes this location theory more interesting.
From Wednighter
"I watched the episode of the Universe last night Titled gravity.. Its a theory that has proven if you take a tunnel from one side of the earth say LA to Toyko would take 42 minutes no matter what the 2 points are the tunnel through the earth would result in a 42 minutes of travel.. If ya can watch this episode or check it out I thought it was very interesting and it is one of the NUMBERS"
PILOT: Six hours in, our radio went out. No-one could see us. We turned back to land in Fiji. By the time we hit turbulence, we… we were a thousand miles off course. They're looking for us in the wrong place.
As you can see it lies along the Louisville Ridge which has many seamounts that don't quite break the ocean surface, of course one might?

This is excellent! Kudos on a job well done. I think that this is a very good explanation of what is happening.

I bet there will be more and more interest as we (hopefully!) see more and more travelling and future stuff!

Checking out this theory, and seeing the vile vortices mapped out, AND that we know that Ben/Dean Moriarty is a respected guest in Tunisia, I have a feeling how the island is going to move. Ben has obviously ben using the Tunisia exit for sometime, and now that Widmore has the 305 entrance covered, I had the idea that the island is a tumbler to the Earth's lock.
Think of it this way.... you have a bike lock with four tumblers set with numbers. you set the lock to open with 123 and 4. Perhaps the orchid moves the island in such a way that now the tumblers are 567 and 8. The entrances are now split among several possible settings, and Widmore must take the time to listen for 'anamolies' or check every possible entrance.
I'd thought a long time ago that the Swan may have been the anchor, but obviously, that's not the case now. I'm guessing the island may move on it's own, with no outside help, but maybe the orchid holds in in place until it's moved manually.
In any event, I really believe this is far advanced technology, and I'm gonna take some bets that at some point during the show, maybe the last ep, we will see a future world or ours, perhaps 100's of years in the future.
