To be fair, I think i'd probably go completely loopy if I knew that the end of human existence was a mathematical certainty!! I will be very surprised if I am right though coz thinking about it, didn't Hurley go to meet Leonard's friend and find out he had died? I'm sure in that episode it said where Leonard and his friend had heard the numbers - possibly on the radio? - which kinda kills the theory that it was his equation.

Unless it was his equation but he had washed his hands of the whole thing, and then hearing the numbers in that way made him start to go a bit insane?!! (A long shot even for Lost!)

well, the age difference you refer to is, yes, kind of obvious. but what if there's a trick to it...? like having been to the island and drunk Richard's anti-aging potion- free eye-liners for life with purchase :P some call it time travel

I like the idea of the six numbers going with the Oceanic 6. Maybe the numbers have to do with how long they are on the island before their death, ages of their death (doesn't make sense I guess), something like that. I'm a rookie here so give me a break!

I hadn't seen Lost before this season- so a month before the season started, I bough all 3 seasons and watched them all before getting into this season. For the first time I have to wait months before the next episode. Arrrgh. I now share your pain!!

I don't think Ben said all 6 of them had to go back, he said ALL of them had to go back. With the inclusion of Jeremey Bentham that makes 7 anyway. Plus, if you facator in Ben, Frank and Desmond that goes up to 10. I admit Frank and Desmond may not be part of the group that matters but they still made it off the island. Maybe Ben only knows about the O6?

Unless Locke came at one point and updated him about who's on & out the island. Possible you think?

Ben did say All of them, I think ALL of them means anyone who left the island- including Locke, Frank, Desmond, Walt, and the 6- ALL of them But, remember when Ben said if you moved the island you couldn't come back? What if (and it is a big what if) Locke had to move it again in order to get off- can he go back? I guess if Ben says he has to, then he can. I guess I just answered my own question?!?! Any thoughts?

Locke having to move the island to show up off the island...?And maybe he messed things up big time while doing it and consequently ended up in where we saw him in Season 4 finale? That's an idea..

Or Locke could have found some other means Ben and (some of his people) were aware of and using to travel from/to island.

Maybe things "get messed up" on the island when it gets moved. Remember we have no idea what happened after Ben left- they didn't show anything on the island again- so who knows what chaos ensued! But you are right Flaneuse, I am sure there was another way to get off the island- it might have been extreme- but "The Others" are crafty, and not a group to be left stranded- I guess I am saying if there's a will, there's a way!

Well I am sure that they didn't move the island every time Tom or Richard left the island and they were able to come back.
