Default Danielle's sickness/the plane in Sunda Trench/and big lie

1.) I think Danielle's team got the time travel sickness when they landed on the island. Danielle didn't get the sickness, maybe because she was less likely to expose herself to radiation in experiments due to her pregnancy. (Daniel and Desmond were both exposed to a lot of radiation before being on the island, making them more likely to get the time travel sickness.) This is the same sickness that Danielle was afraid Aaron would get.

2.) Originally FLIGHT 815 DID CRASH!!, but something Desmond and Daniel did changed the future. (Daniel explains that it was a possibility that their meeting at Oxford before they were actually supposed to meet, might have "side effects" in the future). As the plane is going down, Desmond hits the fail safe and releases a big magnetic charge...or whatever it was. This splits time so that the original plane lands in the Sunda Trench, but another timeline forms and another Flight 815 crashes on the island. Jack opens his eyes, sees the trees above him, Shannon screams her head off, and you know the rest.

3.) The "big lie" that Jack and Kate and Hurley have talked about in different flash forwards is because they are not supposed to be alive. There has to be an explanation about where they came from and why they survived. A story is made up about 8 survivors, 6 of whom lived long enough to be rescued and go back to the real world.

I STILL HAVE NO IDEA WHY:
a.) Who is making them lie?
b.) If these people want to keep the island a secret, why not just leave the Losties on the island rather than take them back and have to hope they never tell the truth?

What do you guys think? Agree? Disagree? Maybe you guys can help me fill in those blanks?

Thank you! You have just helped me prove my point that we don't need spoilers. We can figure this out ourselves if we just pay attention and collaborate. Spoilers just take away the fun part.

It's like when I was 10 and I opened all my Christmas presents in the middle of he night and then meticulously rewrapped them. That morning totally sucked. Who wants that??

I'm guessing whoever runs the freighter people wanted to keep them on the island but things get out of hand, like Lapedus bringing Sayid and Desmond back. I assume whoever runs the freighter also dropped the fake wreckage to the bottom of the trench and now had to come up with a story of how 8 managed to swim from the wreck point to the closest island, and there is your lie.

Funny too, the auction says the black rock is lost at sea but the book is found later by a pirate on some island near where the ship was lost. I wonder if that is the island where the 8 would have swam too if the lie was real.

Still thinking about Desmods part of the failsafe. I think we saw the first failsafe turn, I don't think there was one previous. If that's what you meant.

potpie i agree with everything you have said, and i guess the reason why jack wants to go back and hurley is told by charlie "they need you" is because the others were left behind?

but why, because they wanted to stay behind or they were afraid to leave? and why does sayid become a killer for ben? and how does the black smoke or the monster fit in?

I really don't think the wreckage is fake. The fail safe opened up a tear that created an overlapping secondary timeline. In the original timeline they became fish food in the Sunda Trench. The fail safe opened a new timeline where they landed on the island. They didn't need to bother with a fake plane because a real flight 815 was already in the Sunda Trench. The intitial report that everyone was found dead was accurate. They could not have forseen that there was another timeline where many of them survived. Two timelines simultaneously, gitme?

I think in one timeline there has to be a fake so people like Sam from the airlines and anyone else searching for wreckage is satisfied and stops looking for survivors, right? Maybe the wreckage we saw at the bottom of the ocean was real, but it was three sections broken up and all near each other, I don't think that a catastrophic plane crash would happen that way.. do you?

Thank you potpies for putting this all down in one place. This is a good theory that is floating around on this forum in bits and pieces but you are the first to really wrap your head around it and write everything down clearly. I think we already have most of the clues we need to solve the mysteries, there will always be more given but a lot of sense can be made from what we've got.

I don't know exactly who the people are who want to keep the island a secret but believe there to be a rather large conspiracy-like thing out there that either 1) wants to use/exploit the island but cannot find it or 2) has invested people/time/etc on the island and doesn't want anyone getting out that knows anything about what goes on. Regardless of who these people are, they are somehow tied to the those we already know about (Ben, Whitmore, etc).

I'm telling you it's not fake. They don't need a fake plane because there is a real flight 815 at the bottom of the Sunda Trench. Mark my words, buddy. I know what's up. Trust me. heh heh heh.

It was when Des was late pressing the button (after accidently killing Kelvin) that he came back to the hatch to see the icons flashing and "system failure" all across the screen that triggered the plane to crash? It wasnt until Locke got involved in hatch activities that he smashed the computer leaving Des the only choice to use the key.
