Paulo
Paulo was one of the middle section survivors of Flight 815. Before the crash, he and Nikki Fernandez murdered Howard L. Zukerman and stole his diamonds. They spent most of their time on the island searching for these diamonds to the exclusion of almost everything else. A bite from a Medusa spider induced a death-like paralysis in Paulo. He subsequently died as a result of being buried alive while paralized.

I finally got Lost Horizons from Netflix, and got a chance to watch it last night.
There are so many similarities between that movie and Lost, I find it impossible to imagine that the creators of Lost haven't ever seen that movie.
Watching "Lost Horizons" isn't going to give you any insights into what is coming up on Lost, or even explain anything that's currently going on. It more like Lost is very loosely based on Lost Horizons. But the similarities are incredible.
Actually, if you're planning on watching Lost Horizons, you might want to stop reading here. I plan to discuss the movie a bit. And while I don't know if reading my upcoming opinion is going to spoil any part of the movie for you, I don't know if it won't either.
Oh, and the following stuff is simply my opinion. When I say "Well, it's obvious that.....", I simply mean that "In my opinion, it seem to me that..... but I know you could disagree".
The movie is very like Lost.
There's a plane wreck and the survivors end up in a paradise. One of them (George Conway) doesn't believe it's a paradise and does everything he can to get everyone back to civilization. One of the survivors is a girl who doctors gave 6 months to live, but seems to be cured while she is in Shangri-La. During the movie, she seems to fall for another one of the survivors. A criminal/con-artist (they're not clear) who has an annoying habit of coming up with nicknames for the other survivors (well, really just one).
And then there's a undisputed leader of the survivors, Bob Conway. As soon as they arrived in Shangri-La, he felt there was something good about the place. Like he'd been there before, and like he belonged there.
The survivors meet, talk and eat with the leader of the people of Shangri-La. A very polite fellow with little round glasses named Chang.
After spending quite a bit of time there, Chang explains to Bob that he's not really the leader of the people, but takes his orders from someone else. The person who discovered Shangri-La and made it what it is today. So Chang takes Bob to meet the true leader. A very old man who is missing a leg and spends all his time in his comfy rocking chair. This man (The High Lama) explains to Bob that he has been alive for hundreds and hundreds of years. That the valley keeps them young and healthy. That Bob and the rest were brought to the valley. And that Bob is going to take over for him. He explains that they are pretty much just waiting for the outside world to destroy itself, so they can go heal it after (or something like that. It was kind of vague). Then he dies, leaving Bob in charge.
Then George shows up, telling Bob that he's found a way to get back to civilization. Bob tried to talk him out of it, but George really wants to get back. He brings in his new girlfriend to try and convince Bob to leave with him. The new girlfriend tells Bob that she's been kept in the valley against her will for a very long time and she wants nothing more than to get back home. She says that Chang and the High Lama are insane, evil men who are liars and she hates them and is glad the High Lama is dead. Bob is sorta convinced, just enough so he agree to leave with them. On the trip back, she dies, George dies, and Bob barely makes it. Once back, he apparently can't stand it there and tries to get back. He steals a plane, ends up in jail, breaks out of jail, and just keep trying and trying to get back. The movie ends without saying if he ever gets back, but it implies he does.
The thing I found most interesting in the movie is that it is painfully obvious that the lead character is Locke. Everything about him is Locke. There's even a scene when they first get to Shangri-La. Him and his brother are sitting outside smoking and suddenly he looks exactly like Locke! A slightly younger Locke (think of him in Cutting Edge), but just like him. I actually had to get online to look up to see if they were related at all (they're not). Every action he takes just screams Locke throughout the whole movie. It's just not obvious until they're at Shangri-La.
His brother, George, is very obviously Jack also. He's a fellow with various emotional problems, who wants nothing more than to leave and get home. At one point he's even waving a gun around trying to make Chang get them home.
Sawyer is in there, and Ben, and Jacob. Even Juliet is there (as Jack's girlfriend). There are other characters too. I'm not sure who the girl survivor is, but I think it's a combo of Kate & Rose. And the quiet paleontologist could be just about anyone.
I think anyone who watches and enjoys Lost would find this movie fascinating.
Good find scoocs!!

Oh! Just to be clear, I'm talking about the 1937 movie with Ronald Colman. Apparently there is also a version made in 1973 (a musical). I haven't seen that one, and my comparisons might not apply to that one.
But seriously, if you like Lost, I really recommend renting this movie.
Another odd thing I noticed is the doorway when Bob goes to visit the High Lama for the first time. It has a odd pattern around it. Well, not really odd. It's just 3 parallel lines that go around the top of the door frame. It kinda looks like the dahrma logo. More than kinda, actually. 3 solid lines going up at an angle, then turning so they are parallel to the floor, then down at an angle.
Grrr. Now I'm going to have to see if I can grab a screenshop.

I think we will certainly find that Adam and Eve are Kate and Jack. My Recollection is a bit fuzzy, but as I recall, when Jack and Kate discovered the b-o-d-y-s (Sorry, couldn't resist that...lol) of Adam and Eve, Jack found what appeared to be a black stone and a white stone. He put both of these in his pocket. Until I see those stones show up somewhere else, I am going to assume that Jack still has them. This leads me to believe that Jack and Kate do get back to the island, and that they do choose the caves as their place to live and/or die. It stands to reason that if Jack thought the caves offered safe haven in one time "zone" then he would think the same thing in an alternate time "zone" as well.
