Have the Losties Sold Their Souls?

Just thinking...

If Abbaddon is Satan, or the "Gatekeeper of Hell," then did the Losties sell their souls?

Think about it:

Hurley - To win the lottery
Jack - To save his (future/ex) wife
Locke - To walk again/know his father
Sawyer - To find the real Sawyer
Kate - To avoid life in jail

I'm betting you could come up with something for each character.

So, did the Losties forget they had sold their souls (a la Mickey Rourke's character in Angel Heart) and were brought to the island to "remember?"

Or brought to the island to be saved/redeemed?

This would offer a possible explanation for Abbaddon's wanting to find Hurley (and likely the rest of the Oceanic Six), and could also be an explanation for why they now want to go back.

Maybe Charlie redeemed himself and is now an angel, trying to protect Hurley and the rest of the Six?

Just some thoughts... comments?

The writers/producers have sort of gotten rid of the idea that the island is a type of after life or anything like that in articles and on the DVDs. I'm not sure that they've addressed this specific idea but it seems pretty close to those they've already shot down.

I don't mean to say they're in some form of afterlife, but that they're alive and on planet earth! Either they were brought to the island to be brought to the realization that they must now give up their lives to the devil, OR they were brought to the island so they could be delivered from him.

I think it's clear that Charlie is in the afterlife (did he sell his soul for Rock N Roll?) and hence my theory he is an angel trying to save them. If so, his selfless act to save the Losties probably redeemed him and that's how he became an angel. This isn't biblical, but the writers seem to combine religions, so it might fit in with the idea of karma.

If we are to believe there is a Rock N Roll Heaven, then I wonder what kind of a band they would have?

Didn't the producers say we should forget all about the "they're all dead and in hell" theory? And come on! Can you imagine sweet Claire selling her soul?

That's what I was saying before, Kiwi. I really think that the producers have shot down all these ideas regardless of if we're talking an afterlife or not. They've pretty much said that the big secret has nothing to do with the afterlife, immortality, mortality, etc.

OK y'all, but keep in mind I'm not talking their being in some sort of afterlife, but that they are all 100% alive and on planet earth... the theory is that they, as living persons, all made a deal with the devil and now he's trying to make good on the deal. They're not actually in the hereafter, but in the here and now.

The whole Lost story is laced with good vs. evil and religious references. And it seems there's a lot to do with salvation and redemption as well.

Plus, someone or something brought them to the island and it's no coincidence that every one of the Losties were supposed to be on the island, they were definitely brought there.

So I don't think this theory goes against what the producers, etc., have said, but rather fits in quite well with what the show seems to be.

Anyone think this idea is a possibility?
