Why Did Charlie Lock The Door?

I don't understand why Charlie closed and locked the door.

If he couldn't have closed the door once the room was filling with water, it still would have taken hours to fill the station. That would have given them plenty of time to swim out.

Was he doing it because it ensured Claire/Aaron would escape as foretold by Desmond?

They should have made it to where his death actually saved a life.

He didn't want to risk Claire not getting off. Plus he had accepted his death and was at peace with it. He didn't want Desmond to go down with him. He may have been scared the Hand Grenade would blow up Desmond if he was in the room.

Oddly, I agree with Pip as well. Going further, i think it shows the danger of Desmonds power. Maybe he was to keep saving Charlie, maybe he should have never saved him at all... if you think about it, once Mrs. Hawking talked to Desmond, influencing him, he became an agent of the same organization as she is, although unknowingly.

Yeah, I think Charlie was afraid the future would change if not everything happened exactly the way Desmond saw it. Like Naomi showing up instead of Penny because Desmond didn't let Charlie die in "Catch 22". (Or was Naomi supposed to come to the island to begin with? I never really understood that^^)

I did think that for a bit until my brain clicked in! He was so afraid that everyone wouldnt get off the island if he changed the way things should be as Desmond saw them, I was devastated I must add! I cried...Poor Charlie

I would have loved to see him go off the island and live with Claire happy ever after, And the other thing I wonder is will Claire ever find his ring? I do hope so! xxx

Of course she will. I hate looking at the show this way but honesty the producers wouldn't do that. It would be stupid if she didn't.

I hate it when I look at the show like "I hope the writers will make Claire find the ring" instead of "I hope Claire finds the ring"

Yes agree that is what I thought.. If he didn't die then rescue might now be coming and he didn't want to risk "everyones" lives for his own.. Espically Claire.. Charlie asks Desmond you see Claire get on the helicoptor right.. Des says yes..

I think in the first episode that Claire will find the ring.. I HOPE SHE FINDS IT... I will cry then too I am sure...

Oops sorry, Did I say it like that? (ERM actually you said that not me! HELP I am getting paranoid and daft now!) Nope like I said I cried when we lost Charlie! So me I seem to forget there are writers, all their hard work and I never really thought about it, I seem to feel it is going on somewhere....isn't is it?hehe xxx
