Hugo "Hurley" Reyes
Hugo "Hurley" Reyes is one of the middle section survivors of Oceanic Flight 815. Hurley's father disappeared when he was at a young age for almost 17 years. Afterwards, Hurley suffered an eating-disorder and after a traumatic accident he was sent to a mental asylum when he started seeing an imaginary person. Ever since, he has changed and has been extremely concious of his sanity and how people view him. When Hurley won the lottery, he was not overjoyed, instead he was fearful that his life was going to change. Hurley is typically happy-go-lucky and keeps the spirits of his fellow survivors up. He has an eating disorder but has managed to overcome that with the help of Libby, and has even stuck to it after her death. He is also the voice of reason in the group, and uses his common sense to solve difficult situations. Ever since winning the lottery with the mysterious numbers, he has searched for an answer for the curse of bad luck that supposedly plagues him.

The women in the Looking Glass
I'm convinced that one of the women in the Looking Glass (the dark-haired one in the back, who appeared a bit older) is Annie, Ben's girlfriend from the Dharma Initiative. Juliette said that Ben told everyone that the hatch had flooded, so it appears very strongly that he is hiding them in there and doesn't want the Others to find them. This would make sense if Annie had refused to join with the Others during the purge, and Ben decided to protect her by hiding her away in the hatch.
This then raises the question of who the other, blonde, younger woman is. My guess -- she's Ben and Annie's daughter. I'm not sure if the timeline works, but perhaps they had a daughter, and then the purge came, Annie refused to betray the Dharma Initiative, and the Others told Ben he had to kill her (but of course keep the baby). Perhaps this was at the same time that Rouseau arrived on the island. So Ben hid Annie and her daughter in the Looking Glass, kidnapped Alex, and told everyone he'd killed Annie and that Alex was his daughter.
Of course, that begs the question of why Annie could have a baby on the island but no one else could. So the theory isn't perfect, but I'm about 99.9% sure of the Annie part of it.

Not bad at all! To expand on that, could it be that the Island has to give "permission" for a baby and mother to survive? Maybe the reason they can't have them now is because the Island knows Ben lied and he's being punished. That could be how the theme of faith and science tie in - Jacob (who might represent the Island) abhors technology, Ben is trying to use technology to beat him at his own game, but he has been punished with failures? In desperation he's brought specialists to see if science can win out.
What if Looking Glass is the only place far enough from the Island where a woman can both safely conceive and avoid detection by the Island, by Jacob, by Smokey, and by whatever else may still be out there?

I'm afraid you are incorrect, Christian, they are named Bonnie (blond) and Greta (brunette) according to Lostpedia.

Just curious - why would the hostiles not be able to make it into the Looking Glass? I know Ben would have told them it was flooded, but his people don't seem to always believe what he says. They might well have gone to see for themselves.
As for Greta and Bonnie, I don't think they have anything to do with the hostiles or the 815'ers, I think they got there with Naomi and are planning to make the Island visible so that DHARMA can come in with guns blazing and finish off anyone left alive on the Island. Why do I think this? Because I am sure the boat that is offshore is the Helgus Antonius, commanded by Thomas Werner Mittleverk (this is from the Lost Experience) and built by Paik Heavy Industry. I've been waiting for this event to take place since the LE last year.
