Shannon Rutherford
Shannon Rutherford was a middle section survivor of Oceanic Flight 815 and was Boone's stepsister, who she frequently argued with. She was very selfish at times, though she eventually formed a romantic relationship with Sayid. Shannon survived on the Island for 48 days before she was unintentionally shot and killed by Ana-Lucia Cortez.

What Have We Learned?
I've read and researched a lot of stuff here beyond what might be considered normal or sane levels. I am always looking for connections between established lore and new information. This is a breakdown of things I noticed watching "Curtain".
- in Jacob's cabin there was a picture of a big dog - it was obscured but I think it might actually depict Cerberus, the hound of Hell, three headed dog and also alleged "security system" Smokey?
- Richard Alpert hasn't aged in perhaps 20-30 years, so he is either imaginary, immortal, or just ages really well...I lean towards some kind of eternal youth, a good reason to kill for. However, he also appears to be able (and must be willing) to leave the Island at times...what's up with that?
- Sacrifice is demanded on the Island - Ben had to sacrifice the lives of all the Dharmans including his father to gain something he wanted, just as Michael was made to free Ben by sacrificing Ana and Libby, and as Boone died because he was "a sacrifice the Island demanded", and lastly as Locke did by having his father killed.
- Jacob appears to resemble Locke with a wig and a beard, although it can be argued because it's not conclusive, but it's damned similar. I also notice he is wearing what appears to be a frilly sort of shirt like those worn by shipmen in, oh, let's say the 1800's.
- The whispers have always seemed to indicate they included people who had died. In "Abandoned" a voice said to Shannon "Hi Sis" which I think can be interpreted in a very obvious and specific way. Also of note, one of the whispers said "Help Me" in "The Other 48 Days" last season. Interesting to note another whisper in that episode says "Relax dude, she likes the guy", and only two people on Lost have ever spoken like that
- the material surrounding Jacob's cabin was either volcanic ash (foreshadowed in the Dharma school scene?) or gunpowder. I think this is a scaled down version of the sonic fence...keeping Smokey from attacking him or holding him in and away from the rest of the Island - time will tell if I'm right on this one.
My questions now:
If Jacob is the leader of the Others and is trapped in the cabin area by the line of gray stuff, why would no one release him before now? Do the Others keep him as a prisoner?
Given how he was dressed and the hairstyle, was Jacob one of the slavers? Did he kill Magnus Hanso at the Black Rock? (pure speculation - the Blast Door Map stated the Black Rock was the final resting place of Magnus Hanso)
If the volcanic eruptions of the Island's past created vents in the earth, could they be the Cerberus vents we've talked about? Were they used as a framework for the supposed tunnel ways running underneath the Island?
Could the whispers be ghosts or spirits trapped inside the Island? Is Jacob just one of their spokesmen, perhaps one that is powerful enough to communicate directly with people?
Will Locke be healed by the Island and get his revenge on Ben? Was his doing so prophesied? Is that why the Others are in awe of him?
Why oh why did the Others keep Kate, Sawyer and Jack alternately in the animal cages. What were they trying to teach them. Why did Cindy tell Jack they were there to "watch"? What were they watching?
How does the brainwashing facility fit in? If God Loves Me, As He Did Jacob, what has he done for Jacob that was so great? Sitting around a cabin, not exactly productive work for an all-powerful being?
Thanks for listening guys, had to get this out of my system!

Are you talking about the dog painting in Jacob's shack? or Something you saw in young Ben's house? If it is the latter can you show a screen cap? Thanks.

So the hampster lady painting makes another appearance. Since it is hanging in Rogers house does that mean it is his wife? Or does everyone still think it might be Karen Degroot? Or someone else? I guess Ben kept his father's house after the purge?

I don't think his dad was in a position to argue.
As for the hamster painting...darkUFO is calling it Ben's mom, but I'm not entirely convinced...

Lizard2112 I like to call it devoted Lost fans not Insanity.. Then the rumors at home about me would be true.. I am insane
|
That's also what I was getting at - I am insane, it has nothing to do with Lost...also I read and write science fiction so it's very easy for my imagination to get wayyyyy out of control.

You are correct - I'm slacking!!! lol
The Whispers - they also contain, not only the voice of the dead, but people who have not been taken, but are in the village - one of the whispers has someone saying, "Dude." That's gotta be Hurley, right?
- If Smokey is controlled by Jacob, why doesn't Jacob have smokey come and set him free? Or some sort of something like that!
- Interesting point about Jacob, and for that fact even Richard (because we have NO idea how old Richard really is) being possible crew aboard the Black Rock. With time being funny, all kinds of possibilities are open. Ben called the hostiles "original inhabitants" but Richard has a lovely American accent, and when recruiting Juliet, didn't he call himself Dr. Alpert? He seemed well-educated. And he seems to have some kind of importance in running Mittelos Bio.(even if it is a sham corp.). Ben who was born off-island has never left? But the original inhabitant Richard has come and gone often.
- I thought the same thing about the volcano. For some reason I think that there are constructed tunnels connecting each of the hatches, but I wonder if there are old lava tubes that the original inhabitants could scoot around in.
- And Jacob's shack is a complete mystery to me. If Jacob is so important why doesn't he get better digs? Would't Ben want to keep that place spruced up, not with weird jars of stuff in the windows, and the whole place looking dilapidated. Why does Jacob need furniture at all? Unless he has mass or substance even though he's invisible, and needs a rocking chair to sit. In which case, why didn't Jacob jump up and grab ahold of Locke so that Locke would know he was real? I know they showed us some stuff flying around, but that could be a set-up trick, to fool someone who happened up their univited (Carl or Alex?)
