I can't take credit for this one, i read it at another forum, but it blew my mind.
What if Nikki and Paulo were never on the island, but Desmond's actions this last time around through the past changed something, and now they are here. Maybe that's why the producers say we will like them after their -centric show, because they were never here before the hatch blew up.

think about it. hurley designs a golf course, Paulo is a pompous ass who 'never carries a 5 iron' yet he doesn't partake in golf before the hatch blew up because why? didn't want to show anyone up?

Just a thought.

Yeah, I never listened to the podcasts. I'll check them out, thanks Toad. it just seemed to coincidental that Paulo likes golf but never was involved(what we saw anyway) with the games. And then to have them introduced like we knew them from when we wore diapers.

Maybe Nikki and Paulo replace Shannon and Boone. S&B for Desmond's life1 and N&P for Desmond's life2. or Nikki and Paulo are going to die and end up being the skeletons of Adam and Eve that were in the cave. (because of Desmond's wrinkle in time jumping)

Someone mentioned in a thread here or at 4815162342.com that they believe Adam and eve are Desmond and Penny, who eventually sacrifice themselves(which they seem to do a lot) so that no one else comes to the island. but if that were true, why do we see their skeletons at all? course Correction?
