Who's Jacob? - Page 2

I read that before, and all through season 2, I thought bernard and rose were suspicious. Perhaps Bernard had left the island, started a life, either new or just immersing back into society to gather new prospects, when he meets a woman. he finds out she's dying, sets up the plane to purposefly fly back over the island (getting her to Austrailla with a lame excuse of a 'mystic' healer) and now she's here, and healed, and Bernard/jacob is back with fresh recruits and is still undercover with Losties.

I can go with that... Bernard did say that he would stay forever on the island with Rose!!

He did the old SOS with the rock things though, I guess he could have been doing that for cover, to seem real, but knew that ON ONE would be flying over that island, and would never see his rock formation. Plus, he gets to move those volcanic rocks(and their healing properties) closer to he and Rose. Plus, that one comment he had, "Of course, why would ther be oysters here!" That comment always struck me as odd, like he knew that there are certain life that just couldn't exist around the island.

Then don't forget he did tell Rose you wouldn't be here if I didn't have to do something... Think maybe with the brochure for the mystic healer he could have know he had to get her to the island with the different "healing power" than the healer was on

Wow. Cable you got your juices flowing over there. Bernard is the dark horse, and definitley under the cover of not being highly involved in the "politics" I would ove a trick ending like that where they are all hostage and then they untie bernard and rose is like Bernard " you sit yo ass back down" and he's like "my name is Jacob..." And then he puts on Termimnator shades and one of his eyes glows red.

but i dont buy it. I liked his storyline alot. he and rose are the hope on the island... they have been since thier main episodes... and remember hope is what they need according to the promos from when we started this huge break from lost.

Want my theory on Jacob and his 'list'? (Well you'll get it anyway!)

Jacob is an oracle of sorts to these people, not some current, as yet to be met character, or even on the island, presently. But he did have a list, a list of some people who are pre-ordained as being important for some reason. Certainly important to these 'true believers', these Others. Allow me to expand on this completley hypothetical, factually unsupported train of thought...

All we know about this list is that apparently 'Sheppard' isnt on it. Pickett could've meant Dr Sheppard Sr., but let's assume it's our Jack. Why wouldnt Jack be on the list? Was it that he was not 'meant' to be here? Well it IS odd that Jack is so far from the wreckage after the crash..he was seated right near several other survivors...Rose, Locke and others are right there on the beach and sat right next or behind him. Oh well we must assume that there's no explaining the random physics of such a violent thing as an aircrash.

BUT...Jack really SHOULDNT have been anywhere near the fusie crash at all should he? Let me explain:

In the first few seconds of this great mystery-epic, we find Jack coming to in the bamboo forest, and one of the first things that happens is he reaches into his pocket to reveal the mini-bottle of vodka. A later flashback shows us why that's relevant, as attendant Cindy gave him TWO bottles, one he drank and the other he puts in his pocket. Moments later...he gets out of his seat to go somewhere...probably the W/C, right? But as we learn in the S1 finale, he has met Ana Lucia in the departure lounge bar and they make a flirty promise to share a drink on the plane. Was that where he was headed? Back to the 42nd row, to have a drink with Ana? Well we dont know, because just as he wants to leave...drug-boy Charlie is bolting forward, followed by a parade of Cindy and other flight crew who effectively block his way...by the time they have all passed, he's back down in his seat, and moments later, the crash sequence starts.

Think about it, or rewatch...without Charlie's drug habit, Jack is a tailie. Or dead. Dunno. But all of the LOST story as we know it is on it's ear...But FATE has intervened, and Jack is in his seat, not sitting with Ana Luscious, and now holds Ben's FATE in his hands...so really, you could say Ben's life is in the balance of Jack's survival, who's life's fate was in the balance of Charlie and his drug impulse...and who got Charlie started on heroin...his bandmate brother! His brother who lives in Australia, prompting his visit there. So...Ben's life / Jack's life / is now fatefully attached to Liam's and then Charlies drug habit...and on it goes. That's why seemingly unrelated flashbacks about BritRocker Charlie's brother's life, can be connected all the way forward to ep 3.07, Ben's life's fate on the op table: Liam/Drugs/Charlie/Jack/Ben.

So....back to Jacob the "Oracle". Jacob's no mystical being, that would be lame. Why do The Others take a blood sample from everyone they capture? Those on the list have a some sort of genetic marker to prove they are supposed to be on the list. 'Sheppard', apparently, doesnt.

Pickett says "Ben has put his life in the hands of one of THEM"...and "Sheppard wasnt even on Jacob's list..." Ben should not have put his fate in the hands of one who isnt marked, Ben's messing with 'FATE', Jacobs list fate, which Ben now defies...

BEN: "Two days after I found out I had a fatal tumor on my spine, a spinal surgeon fell out of the sky. If that's not proof of God, I don't know what is." Ben now believes Jack is god-sent...Pickett says he's not on the list.

Ben's God and Pickett's Jacob dont seem to see eye to eye.

More UNsupported Speculation: What event happened precisely when 'Benry' showed up? The airdrop! Ben wasnt going to find Locke or the hatch, he was going to find the airdrop...there was something in it he needed. Hey, maybe for Danielle too...some Dharma pit juice?

No flames here, well thought out. I have been thinking along those same paths as well, who should or should not be on the island in the first place. Hurley wasn't MEANT to be, but here he is. Unfortunately, I'm tired too, and I'm just sick of thinking about Lost, I need to absorb some... so little event, superbowl, going on, BIG event, Lost 3.2, coming Weds!!!!
