Here's a crazy theory for you. (TIME TRAVEL)

I'm new to this forum but not new to LOST. I have a theory to run past all you pros out there. Maybe this has been discussed in here already and if so I apologize.

Maybe when the plane crashed the passengers went through some sort of a time warp into the past. Or maybe their time slowed down while the island time kept going. Last night we saw the possibility of this when Desmond saw the future. The theory is kind of like the movie Planet of the Apes. Maybe the others are the children of the passengers! In the premiere this season we saw how concerned Ben is that Kate likes Sawyer more than Jack. Maybe Ben is the child of Kate and Sawyer or Kate and Jack and he needs to make sure no events in the past change which would affect the outcome of his life. In the previews of episode four the others are torturing Sawyer and asking Kate if she loves him. Almost like they are concerned who she hooks up with. Also, when all three (Kate, Sawyer, and Jack) woke up they had bandages on as if there had been blood tests done. Maybe the others are trying to find out who their parents are.

I know this is a WILD THEORY and I wish I could take credit for thinking it up. Let me know what you think.

Welcome to this board. I can only, kindly, say that the only thing I agree with about your friends theory is that it is crazy.

Wow, that might be the most unbeleivable theory i ever heard. I'm Very impressed. I can definitley see that.

Two episodes ago Ben stated he had contact with the outside world, he knew what was going on in America, and the rest of the world. So I think that pretty much seals off that they were sent to the past, unless they are taking that car from Back to the Future and going back and forth.

As for Ben and the others being children of Kate Sawyer and Jack. Man, I just do not think so, from what I've picked up from this show so far is that anything that is not possible they will not do on the show, unless Damon and the crew believe in time travel. Also, I do not like that idea because it kinda just is weird, and a little too far fetched.

What if time moves so slowly on the island that (just as an example) 1 day on the island is 10 year outside of it. That would make anyone on the island practically immortal. Thus the reason "the others" stay there and do everything in their power to hide their secret.

You could push the idea even further by looking at the theory of The Others being the children of the Lost. It all makes perfect sense and could explain a lot of the things happening on the island.

Polar bears? If the time warp theory is correct the polar bears could have lived forever on the island from way back in the ice age. The babies and the corporation, it all makes logical sense.

Realistic? Hardly. But either is Desmond seeing the future and a priest being attacked by polar bears on a supposedly random island.

No I think that Desmond seeing the future is realistic, and polar bears being on an island, and that polar bear attacking a priest.

...but I don't know about the Desmond part; it seems that he didn't get that premonition until after that hatch imploded. The show seems to imply he has received some kind of prophetic enablement to see the future, but he never had that ability before. But, the rest sounds interesting.

The Others as children of the Losties, hum. That's interesting. I could buy that one. But to really substaniate I would have to go and look at all the different dates that have been shown to us including present and flashbacks (which would take forever and I'm not going to do). It's a bit out there, but then so is Lost.

The theory about the time on the island being different from ours is a good theory too. Of course the two couldn't go together.

So maybe on 9/22/04 when the plane crashed the losties time (to them) was paused while the time on the Island kept going. Since the losties were on the Island everything that would have happened to them happened (hooking up, having kids, etc). Now the island time and the losties time somehow meshed back together.

The fact that Ben said he had contact with the outside world really doesn't prove anything. We know his history which is a web of lies! It's not like Ben had a live sattelite feed for the baseball game. He played a tape for Jack. The question is... was the tape 40 days old or 40 years old??

Did you forget Season 1 Episode 1 where the pilot from the plane is ripped out of the cockpit, ripped to shredds, and left haning in a tree? Oh sure... that's possible... till you figure out the thing that did it was a little mysterious black puff of smoke! Oh and remember the one where the same little black puff of smoke grabbed Locke by the leg and pulled him into a hole in the earth? Seems kinda "not possible" to me.

Oi, well J.J. once said that everything on the island is "Scientifically explicable", but yes the smoke is inconsistent with that point.
