Dr. Jack Shephard

Dr. Jack Shephard is often seen as the main character of the series. He is a spinal surgeon and the de facto leader of the survivors of Oceanic Flight 815. Jack has control issues and trouble dealing with situations that he cannot fix. However, this attitude of solving problems through reason has given him the ability to function well in crisis. Sometimes, if he feels guilt or pain over a situation he can't fix himself, he will do anything he can to fix it, even borderlining on obsessive. Jack is, most of the time, in control of his life, emotions and situation he is in and is able to keep a cool head in tense situations. Jack is also the half brother of Claire Littleton, although neither of them is aware of this. Jack has formed very strong bonds with Kate and Juliet while he has been on the Island.

Default south korean flag description. weird.

South Korean Flag Description

The flag, called "Tae Kuk," symbolizes the thought, philosophy, and mysticism of the Far East.

The circle in the center, red upper half and blue lower half, represents absolute, or the essential unity of all being. The Yang (positive) and the Yin (negative) divisions within the circle represent duality. Examples of duality are heaven and hell, fire and water, life and death, good and evil, or night and day

The four trigrams also indicate the duality of opposites and balances. In the upper left trigram, three unbroken lines symbolize Heaven; opposite them in the lower right, three broken lines represent Earth. In the upper right trigram, two broken lines separated by an unbroken line is the symbol of Water; opposite them is Fire, symbolized by two unbroken lines separated by a broken line.

Symbolic of the nation is the white background (the land), the circle (people), and the four trigrams (the government). All three make up the essential elements of the nation.

Very Interesting considering that the four trigrams on the Korean flag can also be found on the Dharma logo. I don't think there will be a connection between Jin, Sun, Korea and Dharma, but i could be wrong. I think its more probable that the four trigrams symbolize the same things on both the flag and the Dharma symbol. I guess we will have to wait and see.

The octagon badge/symbol of Dharma Industries

Its got eight ( sides
Has four (4) pairs of facing symbols
The symbols represent I Ching

Do we read them left-right, up-down or vice versa?

No matter because the numbers are down/up:

64/63 wei/ki accomplishment not yet realised/small matters past or complete

15/16 kh/yu humility/harmony

42/41 yi/sun advantage/sincerity

43/44 kwai/kau small bad man/bold & strong female

stranger and strangerer me thinks...................

The meaning are not important - its more about the use of the I-Ching. Personally I think the whole thing is some sort of social science experiment that has either gone wrong or is still going on or has been forgotten about. Numbers figure heavily in this programme and I-Ching uses numbers too and are reprtesented on the sides of the octagonal symbol of Dharma has them. Interestingly though 23 is missing and that is the only prime number - and the prime is resetting the clock.........

At this point who knows what is right or wrong - and considering that there is likely to be seven series then the latter most likely have not been written and could take any turn
