This sounds a bit too elaborate and not Lost-like don't you think.

Could this be Electromagnetic Field (EMF) Radiation?(possibley created from a magneto-hydrodynamic generator or a geothermal generator) In moderate to high and extended doses it can cause reproduction problems, along with skin rashes, neurological/mental disorders, severe headaches and the list goes on... The concrete could be for an Electromagnetic Field thats imploding. Our microwave ovens and beloved cell phones produce a type of EMF in small doses, all electronics do. Whatever is behind the concrete is a little more powerful than a cell phone. There is the Dark Trritory on the Island. Rousseau did claim that it was a very bad place on the island, maybe thats where the EMF Radation is the strongest.

I think they take the children as one said to keep from inbreeding and to keep their ideals going. The kids are easier to brainwash and if the others are scientist from the Dharma group who went mad you can be sure they have the ability to brainwash the kids pretty easy. Its the adults they kidnapped i wonder more about. They wouldnt kidnap them to kill them somewhere else, so what the hell are they doing with them? Maybe they hope to recruit some and/ or brainwash them. Their skills in manipulation arent slacking. Look how the tailenders got manipulated by one for how long? (40 days?) Even though they (others) have been isolated for all these years, they seem to have no trouble mixing in with foreign populations( tailenders and the lost crew ) and petending to be one of them.
Now that Locke will be zenning out with Eko ( i know those two will be a good team.) possibilities will be endless.

This is what stuck out to me the most in last night's episode... when Ana confronts Goodwin (I think that's his name) about being one of The Others, and she says something like 'why didn't you take me' or 'us' or something like that... Goodwin says 'because you weren't good' or 'because the children were good.' (sorry for the pitiful quotes, I can't play the tape back right now to get the exact wordage)

So they took the kids and, presumably the other passengers, because they were 'good.' Why? What 'good' do they mean? Because they were more pure? Most of the other castaways seem to have major issues of one kind or another... Didn't Goodwin also say the kids were fine? I agree maybe they are trying to protect them, in a warped kind of way. The only thing I can't figure is how the Walt warnings fit in with that. If they were being protected, why is he warning that 'they're coming.'

I'm sure there's more to this, but my brain is too tired to get around it right now... Maybe I'll revisit it after a few cups of coffee...

... and The Others took Claire and the baby, too. Remember the psychic told Claire she must raise the baby herself and instill her own 'goodness' into the child?

(sorry for the previous double post)

What about the black lady, she's sweet as a button but no one has a made a play to kidnap her? Maybe when she and her husband meet up, they'll vanish.... -shrugs- All I know, is that this good and bad scenario you all have cooked up, isn't really interesting, I think The Others taking the children because of their powers is much cool, but you never know where the show is going to go, and I don't write for the show, so it could go anywhere. For all we know it could be purgatory.

I think the good/bad thing is interesting just because we don't know what The Others' idea of 'good' really is. Good for what? Brainwashing? Breeding? Eating? (ewww)
