Mr. Eko
Eko, also known as Mr. Eko or Father Tunde, was one of the tail section survivors of Oceanic Flight 815. He was a notorious war lord and drug smuggler in Nigeria before his brother Yemi's death. To get out of his country he hastily became a priest, but after Yemi's death, he seemed to take his role more seriously. Eko survived on the Island for 72 days before he was killed by the Monster.

Sure...but that means the crash was a 'random event'...he could have gone out any day, or not at all. The plane was only in the air THAT day...so either their crash was just a fluke and they had no 'pre-destiny' to do with the island...or they did and Desmond didnt cause the crash, he just thinks so.

I'm going to choose to believe the producers when they said that they were going to explain the crash in the finale; so, for me, this means the plane was brought down by Desmond, which means one of two things:
1. the crash was a random event (or fate), and thus all the interactions of the cast prior to the crash were random events (or fate); I kind of like this, because the whole "everyone is being manipulated by Widmore/Hanso/Dharma" just rubs me the wrong way some how, although I'm not exactly sure why...
or
2. everyone is being manipulated, and were brought to the island, therefore Kelvin knew they were coming, and let Desmond see the rip in his suit so Desmond would follow, and be out of the hatch long enough to miss the button pressing. (of course, he didn't know he was going to die at Desmond's hands...oops...) Anyhow, this one is much harder to explain, and requires perfect timing by Kelvin...
or, of course, you could be right, and something else brought the plane down, which means the producers are lying to us...hmmmm...

I think the fact that he caused the plane to crash is brilliant (not that it crashed but how it all ties in).. i think there had to be some kind of answer to why the plane crashed so that they could all believe it (nobody beileves things jus happen in general people need a scientific answer)! so this is it.. weather someone orcistrated the events of that day of desmonds or whatever... he did crash the plane. I think that they are talkin alot about "fate" here agree with logan too.

wait a tick , did you say desmond is dead?

So if this plane is full of 'special people', many of whom seemingly 'chosen' to fulfill some destiny, with all of their pasts interwoven as per their backstories...how could their 'pre-destined' crash be left to the random possibility that Desmond would go out on that day?
|
...Remember one thing, even if Des' did crash the plane how'd all the 'chosen' people survive that in the first place.. Anyone ever seen a video of a plane crash, its not pretty.
Also, that guy that found desmond, forgot his name, he had that tear on the bottom of his leg and it seemed to me that he made it quite obvious to Des. That would have to mean that 'that guy' would be a part of the whole conspriacy or with the 'hostles/others'... He did seem very similar to one of the others, Tom i think his name was, with the fake beard.
