Okay, I will quit lurking and start posting....you made some good points.
I think Penelopes dad had a hand on Desmond coming to the island, and he used Elizabeth (libby, whoever :lol) to help him.....I am beginning to wonder if Dave is real or imaginary......that four toed big foot has really got me freaked. I have several scenario's floating through my mind, but am not for sure of anything right now.....and that was Jack or Jacks twin that called Penelope(which does sound like Pers....the lady hacker s name........)...need to leave and beat my head against the wall some more....

I agree, it's hard to be sure of anything. Post your scenarios in in a new post. I will be some of the crowd who appreciates all input including yours.

Whatever the writers are doing, they have definately have us (viewers) by the proverbial "balls" (excuse my french)

Of course the writers had no idea at the beggining that people would scrutinize EVERY aspect of a show. Of course they are going to exploit that now. All in the name of ratings....not the fans... surprised? Not me personally. But whatever floats peoples boats.

My problem with some thories is that to many people are taking certain aspects and going off on a wild tangent.

ie; book references, numerology, physics (quantum etc..) I mean, i for one like all the ideas people have posted. Brainstorming is the greatest. But sometimes it goes too far.

I am no longer posting on some of the other major forums (cough.. "lost-tv forum"... cough). anymore for this reason alone. Some people are really snooty and claim to be "expert theorist's" just because they have been theorizing from day one.

I'd also like to say that this forum is very welcoming, sans the stuck up crabby people from other lost forums.

Ok, my theory is that the statue is actually of one of the original 3 musketeers. There was Aramis, Athos....and (cough) Fourtoes.

I like your point about the collider. In "my ideas" thread. It is partly what I am thinking. I believe the island has many scientific testing going on. Your idea fits in real well.

I still think there is some time of cloning going on which would explain the messed up feet. Along with the zoology mentioned(polar bears). Research of observation etc..

Could explain why the bird said hurly's name. I could even go so far that there could be cross breading of DNA between humans and the animals. I am still trying to stay w/in the realm of the "answers" be true apposed to unexplainable(UFO's, purgatory, etc..)

Hopefully you can understand my train of thought...

The producers did say there were many things going on, not just ONE answer to explain everything.

I really think this is in the right track.

Yes I agree. Myself personally im just theorizing about the swan station alone. Focusing on this station alone keeps me from losing my mind trying to tie it "all" together.

How could it be able to identify Hurley, or speak his name? Is it under control by someone? something?

Maybe there is an island security station, kinda similar to the pearl station where people keep tabs monitoring using cybernetic/bioinically/bilogical engineered animals. Im sure this has been discussed before though.

I will be posting my theory soon, basically when I'm done rewatching the first season. Hey, I'm an insomniac and there is nothing else good on TV. Anyhoo, Molecularaz, you have a great idea with the super collider, and I was tinkering with the idea myself. I don't know if the island is Ataalntis, but it very well could be, and perhaps it's trapped under the surface of Antartica, those Portuguese guys seemed to be in a really cold place doing their monitoring. Perhaps Dharma found it, and now have invited all the rich wild scientists (see industrialist..Widmore) to perform any kind of experiment they want, cloning, black hole creation(it is theorized that if one could house a black hole there could be limitless energy from it) without consequence or governmental supervision.

I want to vote for Bruski for the best Post on this thread. That's just wacky.

Well, based on the new spoilerfix info it seems like a "Lost world" sort of thing to me. And I think Widmore used Libby to get Desmond there too. That's why Penelope has been looking for the island. But then- just how and why did they get our Losties there- were they suppose to land and not crash? And was someone sending each one of them there? The statue is now said to have something to do with the myth and archaeology of the island before they came. So maybe it brings it back to an Atlantis sort of thing.

I believe someone mentioned it already, but I am also the feeling that the island is not stationary. Possible that it is floating about to make it more difficult to find its location?
