Shannon Rutherford

Shannon Rutherford was a middle section survivor of Oceanic Flight 815 and was Boone's stepsister, who she frequently argued with. Default Libby's connection?

Hey guys I'm new here and you all seem pretty cool.

I know most of you probably realized this but oh well.

Does any one else remember the episode with Libby is shown at the end as a mental patient? After seeing that her with Hurley I came up with an idea that Libby was connected with the Hanso foundation or some other company. I also believed that she was faking the relationship with Hurley. She adds on to my theory when she gives Desmond a sailboat for no reason. The only thing is I don't know is that if she really was on the plane or what her purpose is.

Its just something I came up with before the season finale

well, she was definitely at the airport just before the plane took off, since she ran into Eko and the girl who "died", so unless she secretly caught some faster plane to get to the island, I'd say she was on flight 815

I think she was on the flight but I also think the flight was brought down and the memory of the tail breaking off and the other crash details were false memories, to wit, Charlie's memory or lack thereof of the blast in the hatch and Locke/Desmond's actions. I do think also, after last night, that she's part of the "plot" and not a legitimate Lostie. As to her true feelings for Hurley, I don't know.

Whatever her purpose is.. she's far from finished, even if she is dead! They have a lot to reveal about her -- as is evident from the questions here!

I think that its no that unusual that Libby happened to be in the mental hospital with Hurley or that she gave Desond the boat. If you noticed there is an ongoing pattern of the losties having their lives intertwined and teir paths crossing. (Des just happens to be jogging where Jack was, Sawyer walking by the car that Anna Lucia was sitting in with that doctor and countless other coincidences) I think its all just part of them being on the island and the possibiity that them being on the island is not so accidental.

The only problem with that is why does she keep changing her appearance? In the finale she had a reddish straight hair, while in the hospital she looked well crazy hah.

It could be a possibility that she had something like Locke, Sun, and basically all the other losties. The Island is special in the fact that it enables people to do what they couldnt in the real world (Locke walking and Sun being pregant etc.) but if we see her being "crazy" and normal outside of the island why isnt that raising any doubts?

I doubt that the intertwining of lives and crossing of paths could in any sense be considered to have "just happened." There had to be a plan behind all of this that assured that all these people would be brought together at some point.

I think the whole "false memories" idea can be left behind.
It seems that the plane was caused to crash by the button not being pushed.
