Desmond David Hume
Desmond David Hume was the lone resident of the Swan at the time of the Flight 815 crash. He was discovered by Locke, Kate and Jack a month later after they had blown open Hatch. After his failed attempts to leave the Island, Desmond joined the camp of survivors. Following the destruction of the Swan, Desmond gained a mysterious ability to see flashes of the future, with which he predicted Charlie's imminent death.

If you're having problems getting things to work on the Hanso site
The Speaker at ABC's Inside The Lost Experience has a really good explanation as to why people sometimes have difficulty getting passwords to work or seeing Persephone's hack messages on the Hanso site. And he also has some solutions:
Quote:
I know a lot of people have had trouble seeing P's hacks. You see, even though P's a brilliant hacker, there are still some things she can't do - like forcing your cache to be empty. And I apologize to those of you who already know what a cache is, but for those who don't, it's pretty simple. Everything you view on the web must be downloaded in order for you to view it. It has to be on your computer and it all goes to the same place - your cache. This is great because it speeds up the processes. Say you come here for the first time. The logo, my avatar, and any images I might post download to your cache. Okay, say you come tomorrow. The browser's been here before, so instead of re-downloading the images - it just pulls from the cache. They're already downloaded, so it takes no time!
The problem comes when it forgets to check if things have changed. This is happening a lot with the Hanso site. Instead of loading the new version off the web, it's loading the old version out of your cache. You've got to clear it.
If you don't know how, go to your browser's HELP and search for "cache." It's usually not that hard.
There's another problem though. This one's a little more rare, but it has come up. Some of your service providers will cache locally to THEIR servers. This makes it faster for their customers - but, they have to clear their cache themselves. And most only do it once every 24 hours. So several people have to wait an entire day to see P's new hacks.
So, I'm sorry if some of you are having trouble with getting P's messages. Try to be patient and you'll get them eventually.
ETA: dragon44 helps out in the comments - if you absolutely can't get the new version of the flash to load, go to http://anything.thehansofoundation.org where anything is . . .well, anything you want (well, except hole2 or persephone). It will force a reload of the flash, but you'll have to do the newsletter sign up all over again.
|
If you've never gone through the newsletter sign up steps, the instructions are below. When you "sign up" the Hanso site puts a small (harmless) file on your computer, so it recognizes you as a player and knows you have the latest version of Flash. If you have software that performs cleanup operations on your computer, this file may be deleted. If you're not sure that the site is recognizing you, try to sign up to the newsletter again. If you get a Persephone "hack message" that says "Hey, you're back. No new messages", then that means the Hanso site is recognizing you.
To sign up for the news letter:
Go to the Hanso Foundation website and use the password "breaking strain" for the"Newsletter (sign up) and "Send Joop a Message" in Joop's Corner...see what happens (make sure your speakers are turned up for the dramatic effect).

This is from another post I read today. Make sure you are including the www in the site URL.
From Lost-TV forum:
Quote:
you kno how some people have been having problems with passwords. one thing i noticed today was i was using thehansofoundation.org without the "www" in front. The passwords would not work with this url, but the rest of the site worked fine. Once i put the www in front everything starting working: the miracle password... even the hugh mcintyre "the mouth piece" started working
so if yer having problems... look and see what url you are using!!!
