Kate Austen

Kate Austen is one of the middle section survivors of Oceanic Flight 815. Kate is a fugitive, and was being pursued by Marshal Mars prior to the flight, for blowing up her father. Kate had been captured in Australia and was being escorted back to the United States before the crash. Kate has always seemed to run away from her past. Even on the Island, Kate exhibits a kind of evasive behavior to escape from her problems. Kate, when on the run, always had good intentions and never did any outright harm or killings to anybody, she believed she was doing things for the greater benefit of others. This view is prominently connected with her actions of her father's murder - she believed she was relieving her mother from his abusive presence. Kate is strong-willed, useful and clever, but dislikes being alone and is usually level-headed.

She has escaped from the captivity of the Others with Sawyer, and has formed an ambiguous romantic relationship with him, despite still being unsure about her feelings for Jack.

Default Hurleys Dream or Warning?

Could Hurleys dream actually be a warning? Not just for him, for all of the survivors. Hurley didn't know the fate of the raft or that Walt had been taken...Walt was on the milk carton. The sharp dressed man in the Mr. Cluck suit was the store manager that sold Hurley the Lotto ticket that changed Hurleys future. Claire had dreams of being attacked with needles before Ethan took her, Locke was in her dreams. Maybe Jin was a messenger to Hurley regarding the fate of all of the survivors? At the end of Ep4 everyone on the beach seemed very happy, I think thats all about to change. What do you guys think?

A warning for what?
I think if it WAS a warning, it was a personal warning to not make the same mistakes again.

I think that the dreams could be warnings; there's no way hurley could have known what happened to Walt;

And something just seems shady about Locke. I'm new to this board so I don't know if this has been discussed yet but what is your take on locke and the white/black ying/yang thing... like with the backgammon game, and then in Claire's dream with his eyes, one black, one white?

I also believe it was a personal warning. I also believe it was a warning or a statement to Hurley for them all. So far the castaways have delt with many personal issues between themselves.(in SE1) Ethan, Desmond and Rouseau are the only people outside of their group they have delt with. Of course they have the "monster" to deal with, too. The Tailenders, though, they have delt with a more dangerous and extremely violent element, I'm guessing the "others".(or one group of others) They all carry hand made weapons, do not trust anyone outside of thier group, and HAD 23 survivors. I believe this violent element (others) is coming to the castaways. I think everythings going to change for that reason. At the same time Jin was in Hurleys dream, Jin is finding out about the tailenders and the "others" and how unlucky they have been compared to his own group.
That is my take on it anyway...

I'm just amazed that neither group bumped into the other, especially with all the hunting/excavating/foraging they did. Oh well. Maybe the island has some sort of weird dimension to it.
