Watching the Olympics, I noticed that the Korean flag has 4 symbols in the corners similar to the Dharma logo, so I Googled 'korean flag' and found this link:
http://flagspot.net/flags/kr_hist.html
See picture of "Kingdom of Korea" flag with 8 symbols exactly matching the DHARMA logo.
There is also discussion later in the same webpage describing relation to I Ching symbology.
"The ordering of the trigrams in the tooth edge flag matches that of the Hou Tian (latter heaven) ordering of the trigrams of the Chinese Yi Ching.
Patrick Kirol, 11 March 2000"
"Latter Heaven" may relate to Utopian ideas of the DHARMA initiative.
The symbol and the roles of Sun, Jin, and Kate's Dad (Austen, who was in Korea until 4 months before Kate was born) all point to a Korea connection to LOST. Is Dr. Candle of the Orientation video Korean? What about the doctor Hugo runs into at the front desk when he goes to visit the insane ward?
I'm intersted to know if there is a Korean connection, and when we might find out more about it in the show?
