 Paulo
Paulo was one of the middle section survivors of Flight 815. Before the crash, he and Nikki Fernandez murdered Howard L. Zukerman and stole his diamonds. They spent most of their time on the island searching for these diamonds to the exclusion of almost everything else. A bite from a Medusa spider induced a death-like paralysis in Paulo. He subsequently died as a result of being buried alive while paralized.

I believe the girl is watching the media craze when Hurley wins the lottery! I am fairly sure I know what scene your talking about. Your talking about when Jin goes to deliver the message and the girl is watching T.V and Hurley is on it.. I don't remember if that is also the scene where the man Jin is visiting gives Jin their dog that he gives to Sun..
