Ben's house at the Barracks

I have been watching the previous seasons of LOsT, and I got to thinking about Ben's house. At first I was thinking that this is the same house that Ben grew up in with his dad. I thought this because the painting with the woman holding a hamster can be seen hanging on the wall in the house Ben and his dad lived in and then later the same picture is on the wall in grown up Ben's house. But that doesn't mean its the same house, just means that Ben took the painting to the other house. Anyways, I was wondering whose house it was that Ben took over after the purge?

Ben's house has a secret closet with another secret room inside it that apparently has something to do with smokey. And also the house has a lower level with several rooms. (Locke's dad was tied up in one, Locke himself was briefly kept in one, and eventually Locke kept Ben in one)

So when Dharma was up and running, who lived in this house? I guess maybe it is obvious that it was the head man/woman of the Dharma folks. But I wonder who that person was or is?

Was it the DeGroot's house, were they even on the island when Ben was growing up?

Could it have be Widmore's house, was he apart of Dharma?

Someone else? Or does it even matter who was in charge of Dharma on the island since they were all killed off anyway?

Intresting thoughts.. In my opinion it would be likely the DeGroots or the Goodspeeds..

yeah, it was Horace Goodspeed that brought young Ben and his Dad to the island, and his was the dead body in the mass grave that Locke had to find the note in his pocket - right?? So you would guess it was his house possibly, Unless there was someone higher above him in the Dharma chain of command......

Oh, I'm with you, Wednighter - I would think it would be the leaders' house - the degroots. (just like locke moved into leader ben's house)

Degroots would be my first option...

Good questions, folie a deux!

Since the house is Ben's after the purge, then I would think it would have been whoever was the

head honcho(s) before the purge, and also the house of whoever was the person(s) in

total charge before Dharma. Before the purge, I would also guess the Degroots or

the Goodspeeds, with the 'Hostiles' watching it closely, knowing the power that is inside, to call Smokie, and who knows what else.

But before Dharma, I think I would put my money on it being Jacob's house. It would make sense.

No wonder he's pissed and hides from people, he's mad and doesn't want to talk to them, his house got taken away!
