Johnathan "John" Locke
Johnathan "John" Locke is one of the middle section survivors of Oceanic Flight 815. His paralysis was immediately healed upon crashing on the Island, which has ultimately led him to believe he has some sort of special connection to the Island. He is sometimes shown in antithesis to Benjamin Linus, sharing several traits including the ability to commune with Jacob. Seen as antithetical to Jack Shephard, he and Jack are philosophical opposites and used to share leadership among the survivors, but now seems to be creating his own agenda for his actions on the Island and has broken off from the survivors.

Well, lets see, the show began with the crash of flight 815 on the island.
So the story takes place on the island; the island events are the present.
Flashbacks were used to give background information about the characters; flashback events are the past.
Then the flashforward was introduced in "Through the Looking Glass", flashforwards have so far given information about about a character(s) life after getting off the island. So flashforwards are the future.
Now there have been on-island flashbacks, a few examples are Ben and Juliet's backstory, Paulo and Nikki's final episode, and Desmond's Swan station activities.
But they are still flashbacks and still past events in relation to the current or present events on the island.
The major change the creators are talking about could be shifting the present perspective of the story. The current or present events could be the oceanic 6 preparing to get back to the island. The flashbacks or past events would be Locke and company's on island activities. And then flashforwards would be events on island when the oceanic 6 returns. OR no flashforwards at all.
I really hope they don't do this as it would just make everything that much more confusing. I hope they pick up season 5 right where they left off. And the island continues to be the present point of view for the story.
This is not based on anything but my own speculation.

Is this real? If it is that will make for a wild story!
