Kate Austen

Kate Austen is one of the middle section survivors of Oceanic Flight 815. Kate is a fugitive, and was being pursued by Marshal Mars prior to the flight, for blowing up her father. Kate had been captured in Australia and was being escorted back to the United States before the crash. Kate has always seemed to run away from her past. Even on the Island, Kate exhibits a kind of evasive behavior to escape from her problems. Kate, when on the run, always had good intentions and never did any outright harm or killings to anybody, she believed she was doing things for the greater benefit of others. This view is prominently connected with her actions of her father's murder - she believed she was relieving her mother from his abusive presence. Kate is strong-willed, useful and clever, but dislikes being alone and is usually level-headed.

She has escaped from the captivity of the Others with Sawyer, and has formed an ambiguous romantic relationship with him, despite still being unsure about her feelings for Jack.

I know it's not the sexiest of theories, but it's not unheard of for 10 or 11 year-old boys to get their growth spurt early. It happens.

However, we see that Walt aged from his last episode... to when he talked to Locke... was Walt taken off the island and is on a boat outside the 'zone?'... because clearly that child is older!

And maybe the writers are watching sites like this .. to catch all their glitches in writing! (suggested in a different thread)

chickenpotpie, I was referring to the Dorian Gray theory and agelessness. We clearly see that Walt has aged-and yes, boys do have growth spurts but if there is some anti aging going on due to the island, it doesn't apply to Walt.

I was interested by jswindle's idea about Dorian Gray. It reminded me a lot of this show I used to watch in reruns on sci-fi channel, Dark Shadows. In this show a character named Quentin Collins has his portrait commissioned by this mysterious man named Count Petofi. I looked Dark Shadows up on wikipedia and looked at all the story archs, and there are a some similarities between this show and Lost. Just throwing it out there.
