Dr. Jack Shephard

Dr. Jack Shephard is often seen as the main character of the series. He is a spinal surgeon and the de facto leader of the survivors of Oceanic Flight 815. Jack has control issues and trouble dealing with situations that he cannot fix. However, this attitude of solving problems through reason has given him the ability to function well in crisis. Sometimes, if he feels guilt or pain over a situation he can't fix himself, he will do anything he can to fix it, even borderlining on obsessive. Jack is, most of the time, in control of his life, emotions and situation he is in and is able to keep a cool head in tense situations. Jack is also the half brother of Claire Littleton, although neither of them is aware of this. Jack has formed very strong bonds with Kate and Juliet while he has been on the Island.

Default Ben's Painting

Anyone else wonder why there is a new painting in Ben's house? The first one is from "the man from tallahassee" and the second one is from "the other woman". The picture with Hurley and Aaron is the "new picture" from "The shape of things to come". The last picture is the original from our first views of Ben's house interior.

Different lighting can change the color of a painting dramatically. Or the artist did some touch-up's during the strike. I think it's the same painting. I think I could be wrong too.

I wonder if Ben is the artist behind the paintings (we've already seen his penchant for art through the piano playing and appreciation of literature), that it isn't some sort of obsession to keep painting the same basic image over and over. I'm reminded of the movie "White Oleander" (which has really no connection whatsoever...but) where Astrid drew and re-drew the face of a woman she knew was important from her past but couldn't remember where she knew her from (turns out it was a very important element of her life). Regardless of who the painting is of (many theories such as Annie or Ben's mother), it just makes me wonder if Ben is the artist, repainting various versions of the same woman for some sort of catharsis.

My guess is that the producers were going to use one actress to play the woman in the painting in some future episode and then the plan changed and now they're using another. Like how the original photo of Desmond and Penny had a different actress playing Penny. But I definitely think that the character in that painting will show up in the story later. I'm also wondering if maybe it's Annie all grown up in the painting. Hmmmm... Makes you wonder....

I wondered if it were Annie as well. But if it was a change in actress- why change the hair style of a painting that has already been established? The new actress couldnt have changed her hair accordingly? Very curious.

Good catch Queenie!

Actually in"Shape of Things To Come" version of the infamouse Hampster lady has changed, AGAIN! This is the third version since she debuted on the show. Is there a reason for this?

Holy crap! You know what I think it is? The Picture of Dorian Gray.

I bet this is a weird side effect or requirement for the agelessness shown on the island. It looks to me like the portrait of the lady is getting older and older as the episodes move forward.
