Dr. Jack Shephard
Dr. Jack Shephard is often seen as the main character of the series. He is a spinal surgeon and the de facto leader of the survivors of Oceanic Flight 815. Jack has control issues and trouble dealing with situations that he cannot fix. However, this attitude of solving problems through reason has given him the ability to function well in crisis. Sometimes, if he feels guilt or pain over a situation he can't fix himself, he will do anything he can to fix it, even borderlining on obsessive. Jack is, most of the time, in control of his life, emotions and situation he is in and is able to keep a cool head in tense situations. Jack is also the half brother of Claire Littleton, although neither of them is aware of this. Jack has formed very strong bonds with Kate and Juliet while he has been on the Island.

My guess is that the producers were going to use one actress to play the woman in the painting in some future episode and then the plan changed and now they're using another. Like how the original photo of Desmond and Penny had a different actress playing Penny. But I definitely think that the character in that painting will show up in the story later. I'm also wondering if maybe it's Annie all grown up in the painting. Hmmmm... Makes you wonder....

I wondered if it were Annie as well. But if it was a change in actress- why change the hair style of a painting that has already been established? The new actress couldnt have changed her hair accordingly? Very curious.
Good catch Queenie!

Actually in"Shape of Things To Come" version of the infamouse Hampster lady has changed, AGAIN! This is the third version since she debuted on the show. Is there a reason for this?

Why do you call her the Hamster Lady? I'm laughing and I don't even know what at. You people are silly.

Holy crap! You know what I think it is? The Picture of Dorian Gray.
I bet this is a weird side effect or requirement for the agelessness shown on the island. It looks to me like the portrait of the lady is getting older and older as the episodes move forward.
