Who are the bad guys again?

More and more on Losttalk, I've been seeing people talking about how evil and bad the Others are. And Ben specifically. But the more I watch Lost, the more I feel like the Others aren't really the bad guys. I feel that there are no bad guys.

The others are doing their thing on the island (whatever that is) and suddenly 40+ people show up and start messing with them. All they really want is to be left alone to do their work. Unfortunately, that apparently means keeping the island hidden from the outside world, which makes it very complicated to deal with the losties. They even bring some of the losties into their fold. Granted, they do it with midnight raids and kidnappings, but once they have the people, they seem pretty happy to be there (Cindy, Emma, Zack).

The losties crash on the island and are scared and don't have a clue what's going on. They get attacked by polarbears and smoke monsters and such and it all just raises their fear level until everything they don't understand is a threat.

I figured I wanted to know just who did what to who on the island so far. I decided that killings would be a good place to start. I made a couple of images. One is the killings done by the Losties. The other is the killings done by the Others. There is no judgement in these images, just killings done on the island. Confirmed killings, killings WE saw, not speculations! And only ON the island. Some are obvious accidents (Nikki & Paulo) but they still count. Oh, and if the killing was a killing of a Lostie by a Lostie, or an Other by an Other, then there is a green glow around the dead.
I put Juliet on the Losties chart. She wasn't on the plane, but she's on their side now. I debated it for a while and finally just stuck her on the Losties pic.

Even I was kind of surprised with how unbalanced the images are.

Well I don't think that we can blame Sawyer and Hurley for the accidental deaths of Nikki and Paulo.. Nikki is more to blame and maybe smokey.. He can be heard in the backround when Nikki puts the spider on Paulo..

Well then again maybe since they did bury them alive.. Accidental ok.. But I still think that since Nikki caused the whole situation she is mostly to blame.

I also find it strange that the Others have killed way more of their own people than Losties

I do agree that there is a very gray area in the show for good and bad/evil.. Like stated in another thread the only innocent person on the island is are Zack, Emma, and Aaron.. And of course our hero Vincent

True, but I wanted the image to just have who killed who. Not who is responsible for who's death. I thought about trying that. Then Locke would really be responsible for his dad's death, Ben would be responsible for the 2 girls in the looking glass station. But then we start getting into grey areas and judgement calls.
The image is just who killed who (intentionally, mercifully, accidently, or otherwise)

So Mikhail is the bad(est) he has killed the most.. LOL!!!

So by this Boone killed himself.. No one directly killed him right..

I found it also interesting the the Losties killed more of thier own people than the Others. In fact, they've killed more of thier own people than the Other have killed of their own people.
Kills of Losties By Losties: 6
Kills of Losted By Others: 2
Kills of Others By Others: 4 (and that's counting Bens dad which I'm not sure counts since it was way before the Losties got to the island)

Yea.. Looking at the actual numbers it is very hard to say there is a good side and a bad side.. Gotta Love Lost!

Actually, Mikhail is tied with Sayid and Ana Lucia Cortez.

Yeah. Boone pretty much killed himself. He was alone in the plane with Locke below (screaming for him to get out of the plane), trying to get the radio to work.

I'm glad you said that because Jack didn't kill the Marshall. He was the only one trying to save him. Sawyer tried and eventually did kill the Marshall out of pity, and trying to give him a quicker death than he would have faced naturally. I think the Marshall should be on Sawyer's list. Jack didn't intentionally, mercifully, or accidently kill him. Even after Sawyer shot him Jack still tried to save him. Just to be fair...
