Michael Dawson

Michael Dawson is one of the middle section survivors of Oceanic Flight 815. He had parental issues with his son, Walt, but the two have bonded with their time on the island. Michael shot dead Ana-Lucia and Libby in order to release Ben from captivity; and ultimately caused the capture of Jack, Sawyer and Kate, when he made a deal with the Others. His whereabouts are currently unknown after he left the Island with his son Walt on a motor boat.

Default Keypad!

I was just watching the Through the Looking Glass episode again, and I noticed something for the 1st time.
The keypad that Charlie uses to type in the code to disable the jamming equipment isn't a standard computer or telephone keypad. The keypad he uses is a 4 by 4 grid. The keys are numbered from 1 to 16! 16! Why would a keypad be numbered like that?
I don't even know what to think about that. Was it built by people that use hexadecimal math? Is it related to the 4 toed statue? Why haven't I heard theories or something about this keypad before?

Was the code he entered something to do with music? Am I remembering that correctly? If it was, could be something to do with the musical scale as 2 octaves would equal 16 notes. If I'm not remembering correctly (I'm maybe getting confused with the Goonies of all things) - could be increased security measures as 16 numbers would give you more possible combinations to enter (clutching at straws a bit there though!)

The key pad has something to do with musical notes. Charlie played "Good Vibrations" on the key pad to enter the code that turned off the jamming device.

Hexadecimal numbers are base 16 but it uses a combination of letters and numbers, and it starts with zero.

0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 A B C D E F

Since the key pad doesn't look this I don't think it had anything to do with hexadecimal. Good thought though.

But wouldn't they have built the computer and the keypad before they came up with the code? Unless they were planning to make a musical tune the code from the start, why would they put a 16 digit keypad in there? And where's the 0 (zero)? Although it does look cool having the leftside contain 4, 8, and 16.
