Paulo
Paulo was one of the middle section survivors of Flight 815. Before the crash, he and Nikki Fernandez murdered Howard L. Zukerman and stole his diamonds. They spent most of their time on the island searching for these diamonds to the exclusion of almost everything else. A bite from a Medusa spider induced a death-like paralysis in Paulo. He subsequently died as a result of being buried alive while paralized.

The key pad has something to do with musical notes. Charlie played "Good Vibrations" on the key pad to enter the code that turned off the jamming device.
Hexadecimal numbers are base 16 but it uses a combination of letters and numbers, and it starts with zero.
0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 A B C D E F
Since the key pad doesn't look this I don't think it had anything to do with hexadecimal. Good thought though.

But wouldn't they have built the computer and the keypad before they came up with the code? Unless they were planning to make a musical tune the code from the start, why would they put a 16 digit keypad in there? And where's the 0 (zero)? Although it does look cool having the leftside contain 4, 8, and 16.
