8 more episodes this year?

The total episode count will be 13 for this season. Falling 3 short of the 16 total episodes that were supposed to air. This due to the writers strike. So that means that as of right now (S4E5) we will indeed be getting 8 more episodes.

Lost entry on Wikipedia reads:

"In May 2007, it was announced that Lost would continue for its fourth, fifth, and sixth seasons, concluding with the 117th produced episode in May 2010. These three final seasons were planned to consist of 16 episodes each, running weekly in the spring uninterrupted by repeats, though the recent WGA strike has called this exact episode count into question.It has been announced that there will most likely be 13 episodes in Season 4, but the three missing episodes should be made up for in the two following seasons."

and unfortunately we are going to have to deal with a five week break as well, when they originally told us all the eps would run uninterrupted.

i've read in several places that after episode 8, there will be a five week break. then i guess they will continue with however many episodes they have left, whether it be five or six more...

That's ridiculous! We waited til February so they could air the episodes all without a break! Stupid strike...

Its quite simple.. they have only shot episode 1 to 8 because of the writer strikes. They need time to restart the writing and shooting process.. hence the 5 week break.

I'm actually happy for the 5 week break because it shortens the gap of waiting for season 5. I don't really like having the episodes play so quickly because then it's all over with and the waiting begins...again.
