Yes, the organic wasteland of LOST can't emcompass children. See how Ben aged much more than any other OTHER. So Aaron would be technically the last survivor. I think the island is self-containing in nature, eventually only a few are left standing. But the Oceanic crash alters all of that.
Aaron was conceived off island, so he'll probably age but age slower because of the island. Sun's babay is Jin's and conceived on island. But Jacob will oppose birth, that's why the Others are so frantic to control birth processes. A death will make Jacob stronger. So there is the risk the "correction" won't occur and the baby will die upon birth. Very few births have occurred there and Jacob has learned to halt them.
But my theory posits that Jacob is halting this birth cycle because births creates spiritual energy he does not control, energy which lessens the death energy he feeds on. This karmically would ultimately immolate Jacob, because people should have conceived to overmatch the death statistics. When Richard found Ben as a kid in the jungle, he realized Jacob had made an attempt to turn one of the Others.
Do we know if any of the Dharma Initiative workers had babies on the island?
Jacob realizes power from death. So he'll allow as many as possible onto the land. This is why the Others want to control the people who know and come there. The freighter people and Henry Gale and Oceanic survivors and Desmond and Inman are potential food to the island. By halting deaths and creating births the Others can fence Jacob in.
But if Ben utilises the island properties and people keep magically recovering Jacob should never get stronger. That's why the Oceanic wreck wrecked Ben's plans. Jacob got stronger and the Jacob effect leapt beyond his control. That's why he had to misguide the Others that he had Jacob under control, when really Mikhail and the Looking Glass girls and the octoroon were working on it.
The number of the people has gotten so vast that all bets are off. The Others use the reconditioning rooms because simply killing people adds to jacob and defeats them. Also, when the Others have kiled survivors they have qualifications that makes them bad bets for Jacob's energy pool. An angry spirit like Sawyer or Kate or Jack could wreak havoc inside Jacob. But the Others can neither explain nor prove this to crash landers.
That's where the list comes from. Desmond was a bad bet to kill because his rage over loseing penelope would have made Jacob stronger. Inman was a born killer, in Jacob he would have rained destruction on the island. If Ana Lucia is in Jacob now, who knows what can happen. Goodwin and Naomi are in Jacob now. I'm waiting for Jacob to appear to Hurley as both Charlie and Libby.
