Ana-Lucia Cortez

Ana-Lucia Cortez was an ex-police officer who sat in the tail section of Flight 815 when it crashed. She took a leadership role in the group and led her party across the Island, reuniting them with the rest of the passengers. Ana was known to be very emotionally cold and her background in policing helped her with her leadership role. Ana-Lucia survived on the Island for 65 days before being shot and killed by Michael.

This kinda goes with the father son betrayals... Wasn't it kinda freaky that Richard Alpert got Ben to kill his dad one on one.. Ben trys to get Locke to kill his dad one on one and when he was unable to Richard jumps up says your father has to go for him to find his way then suggests Sawyer for the job.. Ultimatly resulting in Ben killing his father and Locke having his father killed..

Weird right..

It's totally Freudian and makes a lot of sense: the son has to (at least) emotionally kill the father in order to hav e his own unfettered identity.

Default 5 patricides & Cooper as father figure to Sawyer

When James Ford killed Tom Sawyer, that was another example of patricide (the murder of a father by his child) because Sawyer was much more a father figure to James than his own biological father. Ford took Sawyer's name like a son would do a father. He followed in the "family business" of conning. As much as he hated Sawyer he became just like him--the same predicament many men wrestle with in real life. Ford's whole identity and decisionmaking were informed by the real Sawyer, so I would argue that his bio. father's influence was negligible. Sawyer was Ford's real father in any way that matters.

1.) Ben murders his bio. father
2.) Jack sets the wheels in motion for Christian to kill himself.
3.) Locke uses Sawyer to kill his bio. father.
4.) Sawyer murdered his psych. father.
5.) Hey, don't forget: Kate also killed her bio. father! It just goes to show that the father-daughter relationship is worth thinking about too.

It's an interesting layer when you think Wayne was Kate's bio. father AND her psych. father--She had DOUBLE** the motivation to kill her pops than our boy heroes! Austin Sr. says Kate had murder in her heart. She got it from Wayne. Just like Sawyer was w/James Ford, Wayne was the dominate architect of her personality rather than the man she believed to be her bio. father. Dig it: Even more reason why she and Sawyer are naturally so drawn to eachother. They sense shared experience even though they don't know eachother's history.

Now that Sawyer & Locke have shared the experience of killing their father have they formed a lasting bond (a brotherhood under the same abusive father); and if so will it affect events down the line in the show? Or was that moment way too intimate for 2 loners, causing Locke and Sawyer to want to avoid eachother rather than be reminded of it? They are tough guys afterall.

**Rock on, sistahs! Anne Richards once said "Fred Astaire was a good dancer, but Ginger Rogers did it backwards and in heels."
