Ray Bradbury and Jack's tattoos
The "Here Be Dragons" quote in Latin on the blastdoor map was really bugging me. I couldn't figure out which Stephen King work it came from. Turns out it's from a Ray Bradbury short story. Bradbury was a major influence on Stephen King, who was a major influence on the Lost producers.
The original quote was in Latin, meant "here there are dragons," and was marked in the unexplored areas of hte first globe map ever created. "Here There Be Tigers" is a short story about a group of people who believe they have discovered paradise on a deserted island.
_One More for the Road_ is a novel about . There is a Lost episode called "Two for the Road." This is the one where Michael kills AnaLucia and Libby.
_The Illustrated Man_ -- A collection of short stories that a hitch-hiker sees in the middle of the night while watching the moving tattoos of a man sleeping near him on the road. Creepy! The man finally runs away when he realizes that the last story he sees is about himself.
Jack's tattoos were important enough to the story of Lost that they got their own episode and mentions or close-ups in several others. Could the Bradbury reference be a clue that we should also be paying close attention to Jack's tattoos? A clue that Jack Shepherd's tattoos tell us something? I that his tattoos change slightly in different episodes and contain clues to what's going on
