Somebody out there had an amazing idea--that the guy in the tent at the end of Season 1 who looked a whole lot like Jack actually IS Jack. (I'm not savvy enough w/this site to find my way back there, so I'm starting a new thread.) That's just crazy enough to be true! Weren't both men speaking Finnish? If Jack was, how much time can we expect that that would add to the time frame between leaving the island, the conversation with Kate at the airport, Penny finding Jack and recruiting him in her search to find Desmond, his learning Finnish, actually being there in the tent the night Desmond blew the hatch?

Finnish is no easy language to learn. It's not a Germanic language; like exists in the rest of Scandinavia; but closer to Russian. I don't even think it has the same alphabet. Could Jack have been in that tent playing chess for years and years?

FYI, they are speaking Portuguese, not Finnish...

Peg4x4, DOES Jack know Portuguese? Why would he???? I noticed on Lostpedia that the guy who looks like Jack was played by a different actor. It's possible that the producers chose him because he looks like Jack and viewers would be thrown off. It could also be that they didn't notice a resemblence and now are kicking themselves for not incorporating a future-Jack-goes-back-in-time premise on the show. I know I would.

Well what if that is 'A' Jack, just not from our timeline, or our dimension. that Jack wanted to escape his fathers drunken tirades to be a 'real' doctor, and became a , a, well whatever that guy is. I mean, casting did do a great job of finding a Matthew Fox doppleganger... perhaps that's on purpose.

i think that it could be jack because when jack came off the island, h went back in time, just after the cash to work at that station and find the island. Then when he called penny he went back to his normal life.

But if it's true that Mathias, the guy in the listening station, is Jack, why do the credits say he's played by Len Cordova? Would the writers of Lost really go to ALL the trouble to keep it a mystery by inserting a fake name in the credits? Could "Len Cordova" be an anagram for something...or is that just getting way too paranoid???
