That dicusses that a guy looked like Jack, which doesn't look like Jack to me and doesn't answer the question. If they "found it" then how come we see nothing about it again in the next season.

Sorry, I misunderstood what you were asking.

The person the two guys called was Penny (who is still searching for Desmond).

Naomi (the woman from the helicopter) tells Desmond and the guys that an electromagnetic pulse was detected by a monitoring station (those two guys who called Penny) and that she was part of the group sent to investigate and find the source of the pulse and the location of the electromagnetic anomoly.

They just waited until the end of the season to bring it back into the story.
