If the island has so many healing powers (as proven by Locke and Rose, etc.) how come Rousseau's team didn't survive the bizarre illness?

I don't think it was a sickness in the usual sense. I think maybe the Others used Room 23 to brainwash Danielle's team. Maybe the Others convinced them all to become violent (a la Jacob's Ladder--anyone see that movie about military brainwashing in Vietnam? Very thought-provoking) and Rousseau was the only one to actually survive it? Maybe only she was brainwashed to think that her team was infected, so she would "put them out of their misery"?

Rousseau was the only woman on the team, right?, and certainly the only pregnant one. To me, she would have been the only one of the group the Others would be interested in. The rest were disposable.

I think Rousseau was zapped into losing some of her mind like a mind control victim
