Long story?

A friend of mine went to see an old gentelman in a rest home..When he got there,he was accepted into the old cowboys "dream" that they were driveing cattle from Texas to Colorado..It all was REAL to the old man--dust,cows,river crossings--He'd change horses,drink coffee---Point is,what IS real? Old boy was happy as a clam,why try to tell him any different...So--what IS reality?? Is this the point of the show??

I'm slightly confused. So he thought that he was doing all of that? Or..I dunno that was confusing.

Anywho, as for the question, reality is in the eye of the beholder, but reality can be conferred amongst two people when they share the same observations or feelings with each other.

I know what your saying. I use to work in a convalescent home. One day I went into one of the rooms to answer a call. The woman inside begged me to help her. She said there was a heavy set woman in all white with long dark hair trying to kill her. I talked to her for several minutes before I realized she was discribing me. I told her that the woman had been taken away by police and would not be able to hurt her. she started crying and hugged me, thanking me and finally calmed down. It ws all very real to her dispite the fact that from anyone else's point of veiw she was nuts.
I think the show deals with point of view in many ways. What is real? Is it a dead loved one or Smokey? Is the island alive or are they being manipulated? Are the Others, good guys or not? Am I hearing whispers or loosing my mind? Is it fate, God or coincidence? Each person sees things with there own background, personality, hopes, fears, beliefs and desires tinting their view. Good question.
