Boone Carlyle

Boone Carlyle was a middle section survivor of Oceanic Flight 815 and was Shannon's stepbrother. He attempted to assume a semi-leadership role with the survivors but failed due to being rash and young, though he became Locke's apprentice when the two formed a close bond. Boone survived on the Island for 41 days before he died of injuries sustained in a fall whilst he tried to contact 'rescuers' from the drug smugglers' plane. According to Locke, Boone was a sacrifice the Island demanded.

Default The answer to that question...

Wait a second; the question has already been answered on the show. What does a murderer look like? Well, which losties have killed people? I think the most prominent one is certainly Kate. Not to mention Anna-Lucia. What about Jack? Jack has murdered. So has Sahyid. These are all murderers. Lost is a show that hinges on curveballs. We have all made a great many assumptions about theories and possible plot twists, but what about our most basic connections with these characters. We assume that they are good and that the others are bad. That seems like a big assumption to me. It also seems like a statement that could change greatly depending on your point of view and how much information you have.

What if the others are trying to accomplish some greater good. While our beloved losties seem to be the hapless victims of circumstance, who is to say that they don't represent the many different facets of the evils which plague our world. All I am saying is that we are making a huge assumption here.

For instance, has anyone noticed that the two unusual animals to show up on the island have been tied to characters as well as being tied to the overarching concept which the writers keep repeating for us.

The black horse - black, evil - Kate
The Polar Bear - white, good - Sawyer?

Of coarse Sawyer killed the polar bear, and they black horse has come to Kate's aid before. So, maybe they are both evil. I just think that it is interesting given the importance the writers have placed on the whole black/white, duality concept that I haven’t seen it applied to the losties as a whole.

Has anyone given a thought to the fact that the others are only interested in the children? Children are so innocent, aren’t they? Just something to kick around.

And with children, you are working with a clean slate (or semi-clean, depending on how old they are). You can control what they are taught about the situation, instill your own twisted (or untwisted) views of Right and Wrong, and teach them who, exactly, should be in control of the island.

That sociological program the Orientation Film mentions, for example. I wonder how that program goes about teaching the children?

Kids are very easy to influence...Somehow,if a stranger tells them something it has more weight than what the family says.

That's because strangers don't do mean things to them like make them
do their chores BEFORE they get their allowance - clean their room
for no extra pay, make them go to church even though they don't feel
like it, eat something besides junk food even though they hate vegetables
and fruit and don't let them stay on the computer until midnight on
school nights. I should know because I am the WORST MOM EVER!!.
STOMP STOMP STOMP BLAM!!! (door slamming)

I was greatly influenced when I was younger...I started to listen to listen to Rush Limbaugh at the age of 10, so my views have always been tipped in his direction.

And your not a bad mother aslong as you make sure when you tell him to get off the computer because LOST was just on, HE BETTER MOVE!

A question about our definition of murder. When you are referring to Jack
are you talking about the Marshall? Do we really consider that murder (just asking) because he was putting the Marshall out of his misery. The Marshall was in fearful agony and it could have lasted several more hours or even
days. He was not doing it selfishly like the others.
I know we could debate euthanasia all day, I just wonder if we can really
put Jack in the same category as Kate, Sawyer, Charlie and Ana Lucia.
All of their killings were for revenge.

peg4x4, correction! I am not so sure that Jin hasn't killed anybody. Did we ever know whether he killed or hurt someone the night he came home soaked in blood? Dogfather, excellent point about the children. Walt, the french woman's baby, Claire's son, all have been targeted by the Others (well if you believe Dharma and the Others are connected). I agree it would be much easier to mold an innocent mind than a corrupt one.... I don't want to kick around the children Toad, I will stick to the ideas.

Don't think Jin killed that guy he beat ,did it to save his life from thug 2(still think he is the same one that threatened Locke) Jin was very distraut, first time he saw for real what he'd gotten into. How do you tell your wife her father is evil?
