Johnathan "John" Locke

Johnathan "John" Locke is one of the middle section survivors of Oceanic Flight 815. His paralysis was immediately healed upon crashing on the Island, which has ultimately led him to believe he has some sort of special connection to the Island. He is sometimes shown in antithesis to Benjamin Linus, sharing several traits including the ability to commune with Jacob. Seen as antithetical to Jack Shephard, he and Jack are philosophical opposites and used to share leadership among the survivors, but now seems to be creating his own agenda for his actions on the Island and has broken off from the survivors.

Question Problem in the U.S.?

This is my 700th post! So I wanted it to be a bomb!

What is the biggest problem in these 50 United States? Those foreign to the U.S. please vote aswell!

Out of those above^ I chose "Political correctness". Depending on this threads popularity I will explain why.

Default History will teach us nothing - Sting

I have a hard time putting this into words so pease forgive me.
If you look at the past we seem to fail to learn from many of our mistakes. We fall into the same traps over and over.
I think about how much we could gain if we took a lesson from the fall of the Roman empire. We spread our forces to thin, we have week borders and outsource jobs to other countries too much. I'm not in any way preaching isolationism here but, it seems to me that we are asking too much of our resources to be able to maintain this for much longer.

(Pardon the double post, Toad. )

I chose liberalism, although the more I think about it, I think Political Correctness is the very essence (and main problem) of liberalism. I have a real problem with letting people get away with anything in the name of 'human rights'.

I chose "other" because I think these are all problems in America today. The number one issue - the people!

Political correctness= Why am I so worried about offending someone, I am offended daily, I dont throw a boohoo (I throw Woo HOO's for Wednesday) everytime someone throws a racial comment my way. Everyone is to busy attempting to not piss anyone else off that we are getting bullied by some jackarse who has a T.V. show that is filmed in a cave! We would not likie to offend anyone, well offend someone if it means not getting are heads blown in! Here there its all the same!

It was meant as a joke, Toad. Like that quote from Linus, "I love mankind, it's people I can't stand."

We are the reason all those problems exist and keep on creating issues. We easily offend, we are selfish, we are ignorant. We are people. That's what I was trying to say.

If I had to pick: historical ignorance, because I was a journalism/history major in college and studied things like this. I understand and appreciate our past.

Also, political correctness. We have taken it too far.

Here's an example of what I think may be our biggest problem. I think it's rooted in Humanism, which basically says accept everything anyone wants to do, because if you don't you'll hurt their feelings. Case in point: www.nambla.org. There are actually colleges in our country that allow this group to hold meetings on their campuses in the name of "civil rights." Scary, if you ask me.
