Boone Carlyle

Boone Carlyle was a middle section survivor of Oceanic Flight 815 and was Shannon's stepbrother. He attempted to assume a semi-leadership role with the survivors but failed due to being rash and young, though he became Locke's apprentice when the two formed a close bond. Boone survived on the Island for 41 days before he died of injuries sustained in a fall whilst he tried to contact 'rescuers' from the drug smugglers' plane. According to Locke, Boone was a sacrifice the Island demanded.

I watched the movie before it was nominated. I wasn't exspecting anything. But I loved the movie and so did my sisters. Maybe its because I'm Indie and its because my favorite band played in it. Maybe other movies should be indie and have good music.

Little Miss Sunshine Vs. Juno = Juno Wins is my point. I didn't think it should win best picture though. Thats my opinion anyways.

I agree that Juno was a weird character and not like most teens. Yet I do now very few that are EXACTLY like her. One of them looks quite a bit like her also. Yet if they were pregnant then probably not. I think it tried to be funny more then anything else. Then it tried to be indie. I don't think they were striving for realism. I think Juno being nominated was a very good thing for the oscars. They were showing that some movies are good because there very funny. And those movies that made us laugh so hard deserved some recognition. The movie was really funny and very fun to watch. Funner to watch even then Transformers.

Again, the issue for me was not whether or not Juno reflected convincing realism- in fact there are far more interesting teenage persona out there than the well exhausted yet supposedly 'refreshing' female coming-out-age character that's always pretty but nerdy, half-wacko yet curiously manageable. I've seen that so many times on screen, it just doesn't look that 'non-mainstream' or interesting anymore. And humor (which is subjective anyways) doesn't always compensate for lack of character depth either.

Sure Juno is a character entitled to her teenage confusion and her general apathy for the situation was somewhat understandable on those terms. But how about the adult voices in the movie, male and female? Can pregnancy be thought without the unique physical and emotional experiences it brings to female body? The general feel of the movie, the way it is, would be more convincing if only Juno laid eggs instead of live birth.

I really want to see Juno after I heard so many good critics and all.
I haven't seen one movie of the ones that were nominated or that won except for...Ratatouille^^ A bit embarrassing, I know...

Just watched "the Diving Bell and the Butterfly"- one of the Oscar nominees unless I'm mistaken?

Hard to watch at times for its shooting technique and extraordinary story, but a brilliant movie..

You haven't seen transformers? Or Bourne Ultimatium? Or Pirates of The Caribbean 3?

actually...uh, they do. believe it or not those are all nominated movies (mind you i believe mostly in technical or costume categories). Bourne Ultimatum actually won 3 oscars and because of that i heard there will be a fourth installment in the series...

I wasn't aware of those 3 being among the Oscar nominees before pchee's post.. Sorry Treebeard4life. And no I haven't watched any of those either. The only one that would be of some interest to me is the Transformers though.

Bourne Betrayal. Dang there making it. I was actually hoping they wouldn't. Its written by a diffrent author. Just because there was finally a trilogy with a good ending doesn't mean you gotta mess it up till they give us a horrible ending.

Luckily for Pirates the 3rd one wasn't as good as the 2nd. So there 4th movie is more of redemption. Which means they'll try harder.

Transformers 2 will be better or just a bit worse. I doubt its gonna be a huge disappointment. Although if any extreme hype comes out of the closet it may strangle itself. I think it will make them make a Transformers 3. I mean...Who wouldn't want to make 2 good movies and end it off with a horrible 3rd movie? Yes maybe Transformers 3 has a chance. But I'd prefer is Transformers 2 was good and they didn't make a 3rd one. It would be sort of cool. But there prolly gonna have some sort of cliffhanging junk. Just what I'd expect.

Now back to the other movies that were nominated for best picture. Best Picture can't be called an award after Little Miss Sunshine won it.

Is there really going to be a fourth Pirates movie? The last one was so bad, I kept falling asleep. It seems like they've used up those story lines and characters. The first one was really good and Johnny Depp is great, but no more. I'll feel obligated to watch and I'm just not sure I can take that.
